DH sperm count

Does anyone have any advice on increasing my DH's sperm count?  We just had our first IUI yesterday and the count after the wash was 1 million.  From what I have read the percentages don't look too promising!

    Has your DH seen a urologist that specializes in male infertility? If not, that would be the first step.

    He has seen a urologist, and we may just have to find a different one..he was not real helpful.  He ran a bunch of tests, but never told DH any options.

    Try a men's multi-vitamin and vitamin C. Have DH start taking them tomorrow, because it takes about three months to see any improvement from vitamins. Unfortunately, I don't have the link I ususally post to people at home, but try googling male infertility and see what you get. I think Zinc is another vitamin you can try.

    Did you have a good initial SA? I ask because 1mil is pretty low and I would think the Dr. would have mentioned something regarding your potential success rates with that count. My RE cancels IUI's for anyone under 2 mil. We had 3 mil and 3.5 mil for ours. The last one which was cancelled we had 500,000. 

    You may want to have DH checked out for a possible variococle(sp?) or hormone levels. It may also have just been a case of "stage fright" (My DH has this issue-Good SA's, but bad IUI counts)

    Many people say that it only takes one. I am sorry you are going through this and I know exactly how you feel. ((hugs))

    I wanted to chime in...I bought my husband GNC's Fertility Blend.  I was a little skeptical at first, but we went for our B2B IUI's yesterday and today and his numbers nearly doubled from our very first IUI.  The first time it was 1.5 mil, yesterday it was 3.05 mil, and today it was 4.93 mil.  These are all post wash numbers.  His motility is still not where it needs to be, but I am not losing hope just yet!  Good luck.

    I would suggest seeing a Urologist ASAP - we listened to our first RE who said it was not needed for a whole year - then we got a new RE - who had DH go to a Urologist right away - turns out DH had a varicocele and needed surgery - he had the surgery and now his numbers are slowly improving.  You can also have your DH start taking vitamins - cut out caffeine and alcohol and wear boxers.

    MH sees a MFI urologist and was put on Clomid for is low sperm count. It doubled his count. It doesn't work for all men, but that might be something you want to discuss with a urologist.
