Infertility

*~* Tryingtogetpregnant*~*

Hey Jenny!

So I got the call back from CCRM. But the nurse didnt sound so sure about me getting into the pco study, because we're out of town. She said I'd have to pay for meds (HCG, and Progestrone), and I would have to pay for work up. And be available from one day to the next. Its for something called IVM, so there would be no stimming. I guess I need to do some research on IVM before anything else. She asked that I set up a phone consult with Dr. S, and see if he says its ok for me to do participate. I scheduled it for 4/23. Im a little nervous about it all though. :(

  • Hey there!

I think that's better than you think. First off, you probably have to be there for a total of 10-14 days for ER. It may be a little longer with your ET, but I'm not sure. I know they told me it was okay to be out of state if you're willing to stay that long. I don't think that's too bad. I'm not in a study and I'll be there for a good 7 days for my ER alone.

As for HCG and progesterone, those aren't expensive at all - we're talking a few hundred dollars. Plus, you could probably get some of that donated from girls on the board.

Then, lastly, the one day workup. That does cost around $2500. They test you for everything under the sun. I know it sounds like a lot, but $2500 is NOTHING compared to a full IVF cycle as we all know.

And, 4/23 isn't far away at all. I'm not sure on exactly what IVM is, but I have heard of it before. Dr. S is awesome from what I have heard. I go to Dr. M, but I know Dr. S is the flagship RE there.

Let me know how it goes and if you have any questions leading up to your consult!!! :)

  • Thanks Jenny! I was going to ask you, the one day work up, do you think that would be considered "diagnostic"? I mean, you think, I could run it thru my ins. company. Im oop for treatments, but covered for diagnostic. The nurse said the meds were like 2k. Tongue Tied So she freaked me out. And she did mention something like staying for (at the very least 2 weeks.) She said there's no stimming with IVM.. and that made me more nervous.. on top of everything else..

Im going to talk it over with my dh tonight and see what he wants to do.. He's up for a new job, less money, but closer to home. So that may play a big role in what we're going to do.. But after reading about CCRM, I want to cycle there too!!! Big Smile

  • Yes, I definitely think a portion of your appt will be covered as diagnostic. My insurance told me 0% would be covered. CCRM gave me completed claim forms, so I mailed them in. I got a check for half the amount of our appt 2 weeks later!! I was in shock! :)

If you're just using progesterone and HCG, I have no idea how you would get to $2000. Stims are what's expensive. And, I bet you could get some donations.

I am sure that Dr. S will be able to explain everything a lot better and help you understand all the details. I really hope you'll be able to experience it there - it has been a life changer for us so far.
