Obviously, IUI w/ injectibles worked for us, but we're exploring other options in an effort to reduce our chance of multiples. One of the things our RE mentioned was Femora. She explained it as similar to Clomid. I had a horrible - horrible! - reaction to Clomid, which is why that's not an option ![]()
Can anyone tell me a little more about this drug and/ or share your experience with it? Thanks!
Re: Tell me about Femora (sp?)
I switched to Femara after taking Clomid and liked it so much better. Not only did I have a better response to the Femara but I had zero s/e from it. I actually did Femara and an injection of Menopur on CD 3,5,7 as a booster to try and cut down the cost also.
Like you, I had a horrible experience with Clomid (visual s/e).
Femara gave me only 1 follie, made my cycle much shorter and I had NO side effects! Much better than clomid, IMO.
Good Luck!
I hope you don't mind me posting - this is a good article posted by Mrs. Presley. ?

I had no s/e on Femara and it doesn't thin your lining - Femara actually lowers the amount of estrogen made by your body instead of blocking the estrogen receptors like Clomid - therefore, the Clomid side effects are not a problem. ?I think it has a lower chance of forming cysts as well. ?
However, it is not labeled for IF and does not have as long a history as Clomid, but it doesn't look like the incidence of birth defects is higher than Clomid and the incidence of multiples is lower. ?It worked for me, and my RE likes to use it because of the fewer s/e. ?He says Novartis will likely never pursue clinical trials to get it labeled for IF because so many REs prescribe it already and it would cost them so much to run the trials. ??
However, statistically it doesn't induce ovulation better than Clomid (except maybe for PCOS women), so if you didn't respond well to Clomid, it may not work any better. ??
