Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Anyones DC just not want to eat?

DD is 8 months old and I have been trying to feed her almost everyday for the last 2.5 months and she just doesn't want anything.  I've tried cereal, carrots, peas, sweet potatoes, and applesauce.  She will eat a couple bites of cereal but makes a icky face for everything else.  She closes her mouth tight, pushes the spoon away and even once said "uh-uh".  Is this okay or should she really be eating by now.  I wonder if I should call her doctor or just bring it up at her 10 month appt if she isn't eating by then.

  • Arlo never liked purees, once he was old enough for table foods he took to them much better.  He's still not a great eater, but he's definitely improved.  Just keep offering and maybe try some beginning finger foods to see how it goes.

  • We had to basically force feed DD for months. She never had any interest in either purees or table foods. Then, all of a sudden, about a month ago she became a little chowhound! I don't know if it's because we would consistently offer her things, or what, but it is a total 180. All I can say is keep trying and be patient. I know how frustrating it can be!

  • Thanks everyone!  I'll keep trying.  It's good to hear I'm not the only one going through this so she isn't a total weirdo.  Every baby I see loves food so it just seems so odd.
