Infertility

Poll (potential offspring mentioned)

Were you in the Girl Scouts?

How about DH? Was he in the Boy Scouts?

Will you encourage your kids to be in the scouts?

Me:

Yep. I made it to being a Junior Girl Scout.

DH was in some sort of scouting troop called the Blue Jays (?) that included boys and girls.

I had a positive experience in the Girl Scouts, so I'd be happy if our daughter wanted to join, but it's not something I would push her to do. I'm also not sure how we'd deal with Girl Scout cookies in our gluten-free household. There are some things about the Boy Scouts that I'm less than thrilled about, but I wouldn't prevent our son from joining if he wanted to be in it.

  • No I was a blue bird and campfire girl, I am not sure that orginazation still exists?

Yes my H was a boyscout

I enjoyed it, so probably if they wanted to. I think the more after school activities the better for children, but I would also never force my child to do something they didn't enjoy.

A lot of years and a million tears finally led me to you.
After 7 years trying to concieve, 3 failed IUIs and 2 failed IVFs, my third IVF was a success!
My Christmas baby turned into a turkey bird! Dillon Richard was born at 34 weeks, 5 days on November 28, 2009 after 10 weeks on bedrest for preeclampsia.

    Not sure about DH.

Of course! It was the best fun I had while in grade school.

  • Wow, Krissy, someone else who was a Bluebird!

I was a Bluebird for a few years, then was a girl scout for a couple of years. But then we moved and the closest troop to us was a year behind me so I quit.

I think DH was a boyscout briefly.

Sure, if kids wanted to join we'd encourage them.  I"m not totally thrilled with everything about the Boy Scouts either, but we wouldn't be against it or anything! Both organizations teach good things.

Ah, my Dh was a blue bird, too. I can never get the name right. I'd never heard of such a thing until I met him. I googled it, and it looks like they still exist.

  • Were you in the Girl Scouts? Yes, in girl scouts up through the start of high school, it was mainly because everyone in the troop started going to different schools, this was our way to keep in touch outside of school. I was also an Indian Princess, something with my Dad when I lived in upstate NY.?How about DH? Was he in the Boy Scouts? He was a cub scout for one year, he didn't like it very much, he is more of an athletic type, preferred playing many, many sports instead. Will you encourage your kids to be in the scouts? Sure, I had a great experience with girl scouts, and we'll let them try it for a year at least to see what they think.
SAIF/PAIF absolutely ALWAYS welcome to respond!
  • yep...crossed the bridge from a Brownie to a Junior ...but then stopped

     DH...no

sure...if my little ones wante in..."on my honor I will try" :)

  • Were you in the Girl Scouts? I was a Brownie but quit before Girl Scouts. I think mainly because a few of my friends that were in the same troop moved away.

How about DH? Was he in the Boy Scouts? DH was in Scouts and went all the way through and got his Eagle Scout Award.

Will you encourage your kids to be in the scouts? I would be happy if our son or daughter wanted to join and we will inform them about each program, but never push them into something that they don't want to do.
