Has anyone every had normal FSh levels but, bad egg quality. What do they do to find out about your egg quality.
I went in on Cd 2 today and already had follicles 22 and 21 which they tought might be left over or cyst but, blood work says I'm getting redy to ovulate. They want me to come in Monday to Check my levels again since something similar happened last month and my levels ended up going down a few days later. If they haven't gone down they want to put me on the pill for a few week to give my ovaries a break and try to regulate my hormone levels. Has this happened to any one else.
Re: Has anyone ever had normal FSH levels and bad eggs
Well your question is kind of a two-parter. With respect to your u/s; if you had follies that size at CD 2 I would imagine they are cysts. Did your doc draw blood to check your estradiol and LH levels? Cysts are relatively common, especially in women with polycystic ovarian sydrome.
As for low FSH and bad eggs, unfortunately the answer is yes. Usually in a young woman with low FSH, egg quality is good, but there are exceptions and I am one. I have always had excellent FSH readings (as low as 1.2 and never higher than 4.5) and routinely produce eggs easily. I ovulated clomid, responded really well to stims for IUI and IVF, and produced 12-30 eggs each on 4 IVF cycles. But my eggs SUCK and I am now in the process of doing an IVF cycle with donor eggs.
There is really no good way to check for egg quality aside from harvesting eggs and analyzing them.
I am a runner, knitter, scientist, DE-IVF veteran, and stage III colon cancer survivor.
I am technically unexplained, but I personally think my eggs are probably crap. I always have normal FSH levels (most recent one was 6.8). But for my first 2 IUIs, I stimmed way too quickly with one crappy egg. And this most recent IUI was the opposite because they put me on BCPs for 3 weeks prior. Still didn't get a good response and basically stalled out.
I think my RE probably agrees with me, because we are moving on to IVF this month and he's putting me on the microdose lupron flare protocol, which is supposed to help poor responders. I'm really interested to see how I respond and what my eggs look like once they're able to get them into a petri dish.
FET #1 = BFP on 5/2011
They thought my follicles where cyst this morning but, after blood work they said they weren't. E2 156 and LH 4.6.
Thanks for the info I'm thinking I have the same problem bad eggs.
After 2 rounds of IVF & 2 rounds of FET, we were blessed with identical twin girls!
