Hello all,
So I am going to a new RE next Friday. I was diagnosed with PCOS by my OB/GYN (Doctor #1) last year and then I went to this RE (Doc #2) and he said that I didn't have it. My concerns are that I do have it and was not being treated for it, that is why the IUIs didn't work. I am thinking that the new RE (doc#3) will probably encourage weight loss before we move on to IVF. For those of you that are overweight, was there a certain weight or BMI that your doctor required before doing IVF? I feel like no matter what I do I cannot lose weight but maybe if they put me back on Metformin that will help. Any advice is appreciated.
Re: Weight Issues (SAIFW)
I went through a similar situation. I was told I had PCOS and then the next cycle they said i didn't. I was put on Glumetza a Diabetic Med for it, even though I am not diabetic. It helped me take off 20 pounds really quick or it could have been the strict diet of no sugar and low carb that went with the meds. My doc didn't have a BMI that I had to be at that I know of, but maybe I met it so they didn't say anything. I have asked several times if they thought my weight had anything to do with it and they say no. I have had 3 IUIs with no reason why they didn' t work and one MC with no reason why it failed. I am am near the end of my first IVF and I am about 60lb over weight.
Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any questions.
My RE paperwork says that for optimal results you should be under 180 lbs.
I've been on metformin for 4+ months, and my doc suggested I try to lose at least 10 lbs in the next 2 months before we move forward w/ clomid. I think my BMI is 35.6 or close to that.
