Fur-babies helping to prepare me for human babies...

We adopted them in January, a brother and sister Penelope and Oscar. They are about 6 months old, and just haven't learned the "rules" yet.

  • Rule One: If mommy gets up in the middle of the night it is to pee not to play, feed, give treats, or pet
  • Rule Two: Poking mommy in the face with your paw while she sleeps soundly does not constitute a treat
  • Rule Three: Pouncing on mommy and dropping a gooey fake mouse on her head while she sleeps does not constitute a toss of the mouse so you can chase it
  • Rule Four: If mommy ignores your first attempt at breaking any of the previous three rules, go bug daddy

At least getting more sleep isn't necessary when you are "incubating a human" right??? ...zzzzzzz...

    I hear ya! ?My cat Zoe (I've had for 4.5 years now) sleeps on my pillow at night. ?It starts with her sleeping around my head, but as the night progresses she pushes me off! ?I was always okay with this because she's my baby, but now that I don't sleep very well, it has to stop!

    DH is a light sleeper, so we've never had kitty Bailey in the bedroom (am kind of thankful now!). But she does have a sensitive stomach, so it's inevitable about once a week I have to stop getting ready for work and clean up. Good practice for gross bodily fluids, I guess :)

    So funny. Obviously it's not the same as a kid, but training, accidents, PATIENCE, etc. It's kind of like training wheels :)

    Having our fur babies has helped me get over the yuck factor of cleaning up poop and puke. I used to get sooo grossed out by it.

    My poor puppy has the smallest bladder ever.  If I don't take him out between 2:00 and 3:00 am he can't hold it any longer.  This has had him sleeping in the garage this past week.  Mommy needs her rest and daddy needs a break from the nightly bathroom runs.  Wondering how long this will last.
