Babies: 9 - 12 Months

XP: Anyone gain weight AFTER baby?

My ds is 13 months old and I am really struggling with food/inactivity issues. ?When I was pregnant, I ate the healthiest I ever have, and weighed less 1 month after baby was born than my pre-pregnancy weight. Now, 13 months later, I've been so stressed out about the baby, am unhappy in my marraige even though my dh is a wonderful man, so I comfort and boredom eat...and it's gotten really bad. ?I also haven't figured out how/when I can exercise with working full-time and so I am horribly out of shape. ?I feel so sad and none of my friends can relate to what I'm going through with having a baby on top of a job, etc. ?I was wondering if anyone here had gone through?similar?things?

  • Me. I lost all the weight within 6 weeks. Now I am up 10 or 15lbs which is a lot on a 5'1'' frame.

  • Me. I was an EPer for about 5 months, lost the weight and then after I went back to work and stopped pumping and went on the pill, I gained at least 10 lbs back. I don't know if it was a combination of all those factors or what, but I am so mad I didn't stay at the weight I was.

  • I lost all my weight and then some by about 8 weeks. Now, I am up like 20 lbs. I blame breastfeeding forcing me to be a pig :o) No kidding, but really, I have been ravenous these last 6 months.

I re-dedicated myself to WW this week. :o)

  • Me, too.  I have always been thin and was only 1 lb over my pre-pg weight at my 6 week appt.  Now I'm 10lbs over that.  I have no idea why -- I feel like even though I don't have time to officially "exercise" (plus, it's been winter, which makes it harder), I work around the house like crazy and lug around my 20lb DD.  I am eating the same as I always have.  I don't understand it.  But, I am also VERY fatigued even though DD is STTN, so I'm actually going on Monday to my dr. to have bloodwork done to see if I have an underactive thyroid.  You may want to look into that -- there is a correlation between some of these symptoms after pg and an underactive thyroid.

  • Yes, I weigh more now than when I delivered Embarrassed
  • I gained 70lbs when I was pregnant with DD. Within a few weeks I had lost half of that.  Now I am only 20lbs under what I was the day I delivered.  Oh well.  I will get motivated here soon.  I want to start TTC #2 and can not do it at this weight.  I went from a size 10 to a size 16.  It is bad!
