HI ladies,
I am due this Sunday 3/29 and my doctors only like to let you go a week late. I have been very anxious to meet my little one, but now that the reality of it has set in I am a bit nervous about the whole inductin idea. They would schedule it for April 5 or 6. As of now and my last 3 appointments I have been 1cm with not further progress.
If you have been induced how late were you?
Were you dilated at all when the processs began?
How did the induction go?
Did you end up with a C-section (my biggest fear)? TIA
Re: Induction ?
I was induced at 39 weeks
I was dilated a fingertip and barely effaced when the process began
My induction went well and without problem, but it wasn't a short process.
I did not end up with a C section.
Here's the link to my birth story, it details how the induction went.?

My water broke 2 days after I was due, but nothing was happening, so after 24 hours my doctor said I had to be induced. At that point I was about 2cm dialated. The process itself was OK; although as promised the contractions came on like a tsunami (although it took about 6-8 hours for them to really start). I didn't ask for an epi until about 8cm dialation - at that point I figured 'enough is enough'
My baby was born about 12 hours after they started pitosin, and the birthing itself was a perfect pleasant experience. I ended up with a very minor tear. DS was born at 7lbs 14oz.
I only have one piece of advice. Some doctors/nurses are a bit gun-hoe with increasing the pitosin dosage, so you have to be actively involved and tell them that you want to take your time so that they don't increase the dosage every 15 minutes and pump your poor body full of that stuff. The side effects of that may be such that your uteris would not want to contract back once the baby is out, which may lead to severe blood loss. But, from what I understand that does not happen too often.
So - no worries, if you end up being induced, there's nothing to fear!
I was induced at 11 days late, against my doctor's wishes as she wanted to induce much earlier.
I wasn't even 1 cm dilated.
I went 11 hours on the pitocin and wouldn't dilate past 5 cm so they did a c-section. But it turned out DD was face up, so she wasn't going to come out vaginally.
My c-section wasn't really that bad, it all seemed to go by really quickly. I had never had stitches before, let alone surgery and it was totally worth it in the end because I have my beautiful little girl to hold.
I was induced 39 weeks because of my heart condition and being 3cm the doctor didnt want me to go to my due date.
I was already 3cm dialted.
The induction went well, got an epi and once they broke my water my DD was born 6 hrs later. including 3 hrs of pushing. 8 lbs 7oz 21in
No, C-section.
I was induced at 39 weeks due to extreme accelerations in my Daughters HR. I was a stretchy 3 cm and about 80% effaced when they did it. They started me on the lowest dose of pitocin possible and they broke my water. I went about 7 hours before asking for an epi, although Hindsight I should have done it sooner. The contractions sucked and although I planned on doing a natural birth the pain got to be too much and my HR was going through the roof (up to 180 at one point) as was my Daughters so I decided to get the epi so I could stay calm. The whole process took about 18 hours and the pushing was the easiest part.
I was really against being induced and I had a hard time dealing with the fact that I needed to be. In the end it ended up being the best choice becasue the cord was wrapped 3 times around her neck and she ended up needing to spend 8 days in NICU becasue she wasn't breathing when she was born and she had a valve problem in her heart.
I
I was induced at 41 weeks and was 1 cm dilated. The induction began at 8pm, pitocin was given at 1am, they broke my water at 10am and baby was born just before 3pm. I was very comfortable up until my water being broken, then contractions came on very fast and strong. I did have an epidural. I was amazed at how smoothly and quickly things went for me. I got plenty of rest between 8pm and 10am and all in all labor really went so well.
Good Luck!
Everyone is SO different so theres no way to tell how it will turn out for you. But I was induced at a week late (latest my Dr. wanted to let me go).
I was able to deliver her vaginally (even though she came out sunny side up)
I had my membranes stripped a few days before induction but it didnt' do anything. You can ask your Dr. to do this - it does help some people.
I had a long labor (28 hours) pushed for 2 hours. I think I pushed so long only because she was sunny side up. They didnt realize it. When I checked in I was barely dilated a cm.
GL to you!
I was induced with both pregnancies (well technically with DD my labor was supplemented). I was 10 days late with DD, and 9 days late with DS.
With DD I went into labor on my own (on my way to be induced) but stalled at 1 cm after 12 hours of hard labor. They supplemented my labor with pitocin and I had DD 12 hours later (vaginally). With DS I went in to receive the Cervadil and was not dilated at all. I was going to get the pitocin the next morning but the cervadil worked immediately. I had a very quick but VERY intense labor and had DS 7 hours after receiving the Cervadil (again vaginally).
It's funny because I was talking to a friend yesterday and she was telling me about her sister's labor. I guess she was contracting for awhile and never even knew it. And of course many people make it to 3 cm or so without much discomfort. I, on the other hand, have never had one contraction that didn't hurt like hell.?
I was induced at 41w4d.
I was 1 cm dialated when I arrived at the hospital.
The induction went fine. It took a really long time for anything to happen - I got to the hosptial at 7:30 pm on Tuesday and she was born at 7:30 am on Thursday. It took nearly 24 hours to get to 5 cm, then I progressed quickly from there. Got an epi around 7 cm.
I did end up with a c-section, but not because of the induction - it worked fine, I got to 10 cm, pushed for 3 hours, but she was huge and facing up and just not moving down the birth canal. I dont think it was because I was induced...to the contrary, I think if they had induced me sooner, I might have been able to have her vaginally because she wouldn't have been so huge!
Good luck! btw, the c-section wasn't bad at all. don't let it be "your biggest fear"...it took 15 minutes, I felt nothing, and, while the recovery was hard, I felt fine about 1.5 weeks later.
I was induced at 37 weeks and 5 days due to high blood pressure and the beginning of HELLP syndrome. Unfortunaetly, my induction process took a VERY long time--- 5 days.
I went to the hospital on Saturday afterrnoon, I was 1 cm, they placed cervadil in my cervix. I had that in for 12 hours. I progressed only to 2 cm. Then for all day Sunday, they tried another another medicine to thin my cervix but it didn't work. Then on Monday morning they decided to put a follie ball in my cervix. That fell out within a couple of hours. Once it fell out I was 3 cm. Then they started the pitocin. I was on the pitocin until 11pm that evening. At that point, I was dilating at all and getting very frustrated. So, they let me get off all the monitors (because up until that point I haven't been out of bed since Saturday.) and take a shower and eat. They let me get up for an hour. It was heavenly!! Then once the hour was up, they put me back on the pitocin. On Tuesday morning, the doctor came in and broke my water and the kept increasing the pitocin. I eneded up getting an epidural a couple hours later because the contractions were so intense. I still didn't ended up 10 cm until 1 am on Wednesday. Finally, at 3:46 am I gave birth to my beautiful little girl.
