Traditionally the female spelling is "Devon, so definitely go with that spelling.
I didn't know that- I've only known one though and she was Devin. I know a family with the last name Devon though and it sounds like De-vawn. So that's where my comment came from.

You are right - people do mispronounce it sometimes, but not as much anymore (I think my name is becoming more popular than when I was little...still not very common though). I am just a stickler for traditional spellings

Thank you!!! I've been trying to figure out whether to spell it with an "i" or "o". I still have a long way to go, here but would love to have this squared away.
I've been a bit concerned about my future phantom daughter being made fun of for having the name Devon........any tramautizing experiences DevonPow?
I love your boy name. Devon is NMS... I had the misfortune of knowing 3 different girls named Devin/on and all three of them were exceptionally unpleasant and very loose, so that totally ruins an otherwise decent name for me.
Married in 2008 - DD born in 2010 - EDD 6.15.2012!
Well, other than pople thinking I am very unpleasant and loose, no bad expriences (LOL - j/k)
No - I disliked my name a bit when I was little, but I think that was due to the fact that it was unusual (again, much more common these days). People do say "De-Vahn" occassionally but that is becoming a rare occurrence (it is pronounced just like "Devin" for the PP who asked). I get a lot of people telling me how much they like my name. I love it now - it is unusual without being "weird" (IMO)

I love jacob michael, it's just a little too common for me though. I also love Devon, I knew a Devon and she was very nice! I think you should go with the traditional spelling!
I always loved the name Devon for a boy or a girl, but my DH's cousin has a son with that name so it's off my list now. I do think you should stick with the traditional spelling though (like the county Devon in England).
Again, thanks for all the suggestions. Believe it or not, I don't know one Jacob, crazy huh? I used to work in daycare and there was only one Jacob there. We will call him Jake if we have a boy
To the pp Devon/Devin is a unisex name like Casey/Kacey or Reilly or Alex etc. not specifically just a girl's name.
Dh and I are adament about NOT repeating any first names in our family and we have a ridiculously large family (I have over 40 first cousins)!!!
Names have just generally been very difficult for us because we can't stand the really common girls names like Bella, Olivia, Ava, Sophia, etc. I like them all just fine for a baby, but I'm concerned that someone named Bella wouldn't be taken seriously in the professional world. Jacob was the most common boy's names for awhile, but it's dropping down the list and again in a very large family like mine pretty crazy we haven't had anyone named Jacob yet and even crazier that I've only known one in my lifetime (a little boy in daycare).
The other names we like are Connor (but not for a first born son), Brianna (this is an agreeable name for both dh and I but we're not in love with it) and Leah (it means weary though and I despise that plus it rhymes with my cousin's daughters' name).

Ditto?
Jacob Michael is fine, but so totally common/overused, at least around here.
?
I personally hate Devon/Devin but Kathleen is a perfectly nice middle name.?

Ugh, hopefully we'll square this away soon.
