Hypothyroid ladies...come on down!

Hi ladies,

Happy Friday!!!

I'd like to hear your experiences with synthroid and how it may have affected your cycle?

This is my first full cycle on synthroid.  It appears to be working, as my latest TSH was 3.0 (down from 8.5) and T3 and T4 are in normal range.  I was feeling like death but found that uber-hydration really helped a lot.  Now i feel okay.

Unfortunately the synthroid seems to be messing with my cycle...i am on CD17 with 5 days of EWCM but no thermal shift.  Usually i O on CD14/15 and while i would never use the word 'clockwork' (perish the thought!) i have been charting for a long time so this is abnormal.

DH had a SA appointment today but had to cancel b/c of 'timing'.

Anyone see their cycles lengthen on synthroid?  Not sure if i can contribute it to synthroid or the giant cyst i seem to have...!!!  I am hoping this is not an annovulatory cycle for me...mother nature is cruel sometimes!

Thanks!:-)  -Denise

Hmmm, getting your TSH down should actually help you ovulate, not prevent it, so I would bet that your cyst is the problem.  Sometimes even perfectly healthy women have an annovulatory cycle too.

I've been on synthroid for almost three years now, and my highest reading was only 5.5 or so.  I'm only on 75 mcg, but never have had any side effects. Over time any dehydration you are having will probably get better. GL!

I have been on synthroid for 12 years now and never have had any s/e.  I take 125mcg and my levels were around 1.7.

  • I have been on synthroid for about 6 months now and really no side effects at all.  AF was always regular before and honestly it has stayed pretty true to form, varying by maybe a day or two. I was on 75 they moved me down to 50 and I seem to be best on that rx.
