A friend of mine has a week old baby and the pedi said to dilute the formula with water to help prevent gas. Anyone else heard this I think its a little strange!
I posted this earlier in another post. My doctor said that giving water to a baby under 6 months can lead to life-threatening problems. Do not do this.
My mom said that she gave me water when I was an infant...30 years ago....but said that it was to wash my mouth out. Nothing to do with diluting formula.

we gave DD water in between feedings all the time because she was REALLY gassy. The pedi said that was great. We never diluted formula with it though. That I don't understand.
Re: Giving newborn water...
Have never heard of that....
We had to give DS a little water during his first couple of days because he wasn't urinating. Other than that....?

Old-school pedis recommended this. Newer pedis don't.
