Sex releases oxytocin into your blood, plus your husband's semen contains prostaglandins that help ripen the cervix.
Orgasm causes small uterine contractions that can help stimulate more contractions or at least help you progress a little bit. And it probably releases oxytocin as well.

Sperm softens the cervix and your orgasm can help to bring on contractions.
Although, it's not always gonna work. We reset the clock twice yesterday and so far....Nothing!
LOL well it's not an instant guarantee of labor. If it were, everyone would just do it and have a baby the next day and there would be no such thing as Pitocin.
But it may help you make small progress and put you a step closer to labor. Maybe from having sex, your cervix got a little softer, a little thinner, a little more dilated. KWIM?

That would be so awesome though. My plan is to have sex regularly now to get things going... Both sides of my family historically go late.
I asked the same question last week. I had sex all last week and nothing happened. I had some contractions right after but they didn't last long enough to call a doctor. Im 39 weeks I have 4days left.
