We've been in total shock, joy, happiness, and a bundle of nerves since yesterday!
I tested this past Sunday, although it was a little early and got a BFN. I mainly tested because Sunday evening we painted the guest room that we've been putting off since TTC "just in case" since this will be the nursery. Monday and Tuesday I had very light spotting and felt completely exhausted. I tested after work Wednesday and got a faint BFP. I'm about 13 dpo and have three tests with three faint positive lines!
I called my doctor and will go for bloodwork next week. In the meantime, I need to decide on a new practice as my current office is gynecology only. I have a list of ones I've narrowed it down to--but what questions would you definitely recommend asking when calling?
We're hoping to tell our parents and family Easter weekend. Until then, we're being cautious but praying this baby sticks! : )
Looks like DH will be painting without me if all goes well!
Re: We got a BFP!
Congrats!
As for questions to ask...
How many doctors or midwives are there? If it's a small practice, I would ask who covers for the practice at the hospital when they are unavailable (it could end up being a whole other practice)
Office hours?
Do they do ultrasounds (some offices won't do an ultrasound just for gender)?
What hospital(s) do they deliver at?
Congrats!
TTC since Jan 07. Dx with PCOS Jan 08
Congrats!
You could give everyone eggs to open and inside the eggs could be pink and blue candy and see if they figure it out. Hehe
Congratulations!
I'd ask all of the questions already posted, along with what hospital they use if you have a complicated pregnancy and need to be hospitalized (it happened to me, and I remember seeing girls there who were up from Chambersburg and other inconvenient places and it made it very difficult for their husbands and family to visit them often).
Who does the exams in the office - doctors, midwives, nurse practioners, etc.?
How quickly do they call back if you have a question?
DD 1/29/07 -
Congratulations!!!!!!!!
My first thought for telling at easter was something with a BunNY in the oven, but I am a cheeseball!!
My biggest questions for a practice is:
what hospital affliation
who will I be seeing for the majority of my care (I'm fine with doc or midwife, but I didn't want to be seen by PAs for the majority, I found a practice without any PAs)
How many docs/midwives in the practice? If it's a large practice, how many are on call at a time? (Large practice usually means large number of patients - if I go into labor at the same time as 10 other women, I want more than 1 person on call!)
Congratulations! Have fun telling your families.
Megan,
I literally got a tear in my eye and gasped when I read the title of your post! DH looked over at me to see what was wrong...but I smiled and told him the good news too! I'm so unbelievably happy for you and will pray that all goes well with your pregnancy.
I don't have any question suggestions to give when calling OBs. I continued going to the same OB/GYN that I've been going to since I was 18, so there was never much consideration given on my part. I think I mentioned before that I go to Frederick OB&GYN Center (www.obandgyncenter.com). I really like the doctors, though I believe there are only 3 right now, plus one RN. I have yet to meet the newest doctor, but the other two are wonderful. And just let me say that when I was pregnant with Nina the practice only had two doctors...and one was on maternity leave for 6 weeks out of that time!!!! How the one doctor did everything is beyond me, but he did it!
If you would like to ask me any questions, feel free to email me at holly9599@comcast.net I'd be happy to tell you anything I know. There is also another practice in Frederick that has many many doctors and I know A LOT of people that go there. My problem is that you couldn't possibly become very personal with any of the doctors, but there are people that don't mind that.
Again, congratulations!! This is absolutely wonderful news!!
