Nurseries and Baby Gear

Is it me..thoughts?

I bought  a bedding set from restoration hardware (brown and blue..now discontinued so cant show a pic) and now my DH wants to make the rest of the room a football theme.  He's saying paint the wall blue (light) and then a white stripe near the top..then the rest of the top blue again..and put decals of football themed in the light blue on top of the white..not a lot but every few feet or so.  This just isnt the way i saw it happening..hes a huge football fan and would love the room to be something like this.  So i try and look for fun accessories to go with..light blue football lamp etc..just to be nice and i cant find anything.  Has anyone seen anything like this..or agree that this isnt the greatest idea.  Or do u think it will be cute?  AHHH

  • I think a football nursery would be really cute.  And I just Googled "nursery decor football" and got a lot of matches, so I think you should be able to locate what you need.  A bit of a hassle, maybe, but it sounds like it would make daddy awfully happy/

  • I think it sounds cute. But maybe you can skip the football decals and stick with the painting if you're not that into it. What about finding some vintage football photos/ads/artwork on art.com? That way if you're not into it you can always just take them down.

    Good luck!

  • compromise!  give him a little bit of football but make it tasteful and not cheesy or over done.  i would skip the decals and do some art relating to football. these are Norman Rockwell prints from www.art.com  buy the prints and then frame them in wooden frames that coordinate with the wood of your furniture.  you could do wooden letters in the colors of the bedding and have footballs and helmts painted on them ??  there are also great baseball and basketball prints as well if you wanted to go with sports overall...

  • It's not just you, if dh were to insist on a sports theme I'd be very upset.  It seems like the beginning of a long road of expecting boys to be good at sports; I don't know your dh and perhaps he's nothing like that, but it's just a pet peeve of mine.  I'd like a theme that doesn't force them to like any one thing.  What if they're more into music?  Or nature?  I like generic themes for this reason, because once you start with something they're sort of stuck with it for a while.  I remember my Dad deciding I like sharks, and for years all anyone ever got me was sharks.  I never liked sharks.  All that being said, the Norman Rockwell prints are a good idea.
  • I agree with PP. I would rather shoot myself in the foot than have anything sports related near my son, and luckily DH feels virtually the same way. I think if you're okay with a basic sports theme, the Rockwell prints are an awesome way to go. That way your husband can have his football, but you can still have a fairly classy looking room. Decals just sound not cute to me. I definitely don't think you should cave just because your husband likes football though - if you hate it, you should find something you BOTH like.?
