Infertility

Hi. I don't visit this board a lot but

I'm going next Thursday to be put on Clomid to regulate my cycles so I'll know when I'm ovulating.  He spoke to the genetic counselor about the chances of me passing my Triple X onto my child and the risks are so unpredictable and low that he thinks it's safe to say that I might be able to get pregnant on my own.

I was told last summer that my only chances of having a child was through adoption & donor eggs.  I spent the entire summer in mourning.  I was urged by friends to see a new doctor and even though it took me awhile to get the courage to see a new doc, I'm glad I did.  At least there's a chance and that's all I ever wanted to hear that there was a possibility.

I just wanted to share my good news even though it's nothing groundbreaking. Also please tell me more about Clomid.

Thank you.

  • Hi...sorry to see you here (you know what I mean!)  I've only recently started coming here, I don't post a lot, but I'm learning a lot reading the posts.

I was going to start Clomid, but then got some troubling HSG results and was waiting for my RE appt (I went last Monday), so I may not be doing that, so I'm sorry I don't have any answers about that.

But good luck with everything, and I'm sure the other ladies can help out with Clomid ?'s.

  • hey there!      sorry to see you over here, but i'm glad that it seems you have more hope now than last summer!!!

this was my first cycle with clomid...  the big thing is that you are monitored using bloodwork and ultrasounds while you are on it to track your follicle development and make sure your lining isn't too thin.

let us know if you have any other questions!

  • I saw the new RE the beginning of this month and he was away at conference until Monday.  This all could have been avoided if they told me to send my paperwork prior to my first appt with him.  I've been waiting and calling since then to be told that he was at a conference overseas.

This all started because AF was absent for 6 months then one day it decided to show up.  I had gotten all these blood tests done to find out I've got some screwed up genetics then was told mixed messages.  First I can't have kids then later after AF showed up, I was told I could have kids so it's been a rollercoaster ride this entire time.  I just didn't want to be faced with being told our chances of having our own was not ever going to happen.  That's why it took me so long to seek a second opinion.

At least finally they're going to try to work with me to get me pregnant.  I was never told about these drugs until I talked to my friends.

  • Hello and welcome to the group. I'm so sorry to hear that your first doctor gave you a bad/false diagnosis. I'm glad you got the courage to seek a second opinion and they gave you better news.

This is only my first round on Clomid. I took 100 mg on CD 3 through 7. I'm on CD 18 and no O yet. The only problems I've had with Clomid have been hot flashes and trouble sleeping. I was really nauseous and dizzy on CD 7 but that was it.

    Best of luck to you!
