So what's the deal with OPKs while on Clomid? The OPK box pretty much says that they don't get along, but will I get a false/incorrect reading or is it just patchy?
usually when people aren't monitored on clomid, doctors tell them to use OPKs to time intercourse... so i've never heard that they aren't compatible. did your Dr. tell you to use OPKs?
Brought to you by IVF, ICSI, limited fert, and oocyte cryopreservation. Because we're fancy like that.
My OB recommended Ovuquick brand OPKs while I am on Clomid. . . (for what that's worth) - apparently, you can get different results if you test too soon? (I don't know how that works). . Sorry I do not have more info.
I am monitored on day 21 this first round. She didn't say anything about the OPKs, but the box clearly states that if you're on Clomid, you may get a wonky result. We were instructed to bd every other day come hell or high water this first round, so I think she assumed that I wasn't going to be using the OPK anyway.
Ovuquick is sort of more intensive bc you don't POAS. You pee in a cup, use the enclosed dropper and drop three drops on the test. It is difficult when you aren't quite awake. Also, my OB/Gyn told me to not use the first morning urine - use the second but try to test early in the day. . . ?
I use OPKs for my own piece of mind. For instance, I have monitoring u/s on Monday, so I'll probably POAS Saturday and Sunday just to see if I might be getting ready for O anyhow. I don't know if they'll work correctly or not, but if it was a +, I'd feel more optimistic going in Monday.
Certain OPK's are less effective on Clomid. I know my CBEFM never gave me a peak reading last cycle, even though my O was confirmed. Upon more research, CBEFM and Clomid are not always compatible. As is the same with some OPK's. I have been told that digital OPK's are not as accurate while on Clomid. But that being said, this cycle I am using OPK's (piac kind) and I will confirm with a digital, just to see.
GL!!! And yeah, you should be covered if you bd every other day anyways!

To be honest, I got my best results with OPKs while on Clomid. If I remember right, there was an issue with using OPKs too early while coming off of the pills, but I've had nothing but good experiences.
I've heard that OPKs and some meds and PCOS don't get along. (Don't know if you have PCOS or not). If you want to use them just to see, then try it out.
I'm on my first round of Clomid and am using the CBE Digital OPKs, though now I'm wondering if that's ok since someone above said digitals didn't work well with Clomid.
You should be covered though by BD every other day. GL to you!

But boy do I love poas. HA!
