Has anyone tried this yet? I am thinking of going this week because my lower back is killing me. I used to get massages all the time, but now that I have a belly it seems weird to have to maneuver around it. Just wondering if you enjoyed it as much as usual!
Re: Have you gotten a Prenatal Massage?
I am getting one tomorrow, and while they don't have the table with the hole in the middle- they do have a donut type pillow that you can sink your belly into !
At this point I wouldn't care if I just laid on my side and got the massage, my back is aching.
I got one last month and am now getting them monthly at Massage Envy (they discount when you sign up to do them monthly). For my birthday DH paid in advance for all the months until I deliver, he's soo dreamy
I think they're awesome, definately do it! They had a special pillow thing for my belly on the bed so I fit right in all comfy!
I had one my last pregnancy at the end of my 2nd trimester and it was amazing. I would reccomend making sure that your dayspa has a pregnancy table (there is a hole in the table so you can lay on your stomach and it goes in the hole.) It feels so good to be able to lay on your stomach like that. I know some places don't have the table and you have to just lay on your side.
I think they are totally worth it- I told DH that I need a gc for a facial and a massage for the 2nd tri and a pedicure and massage for the 2rd tri- I am a dayspa whore though LOL!
I had one but wasn't thrilled. She asked me what part of my body was bothering me most... I said the lower back and I think she spent about 30 seconds massaging me there. And she didn't have the table with the hole in the middle, instead I had to lay on my side.
Plus the girl wouldn't shut up the entire time so I was barely relaxed. lol Maybe I need to find someplace new to go.
I'm getting one on Saturday and I can't wait! I've read about the benefits of prenatal massage - besides soothing aches and pains it helps with digestion and circulation, reduces swelling, and improve your mood.
One caution though - be careful if there's a table with the hole for your belly. Those can put a lot of stress on your lower back. Ideally you should be reclining, propped up with pillows, on your side, or a combo of all 3.
It sounds like my therapist will move me around and try different positions.
