Since we got a Dyson, I decided to sell my "old" vacuum on Craigslist. It's just sitting in a closet not being used so why not sell it? It's a Eureka Smartvac that I've seen recently selling for anywhere between $125 and $150 brand new. Mine isn't even 6 months old and I'm also giving six extra bags and a filter and belt parts I bought with it. I'm asking $50 for it. I think that's fair given the newer condition of it, the retail price, and the extra stuff it comes with. It's a great vacuum and the only reasons we got a Dyson is because the Eureka is pretty heavy, DH wanted a bagless, and let's be honest the Dyson ball is just cool.
This guy keeps trying to talk me down to $20. After 4 emails back and forth, and me offering to go down to $40, he is insisting that it's only worth $20 and that he will have to try it out before he takes it to make sure it works. Oh and he can only come before he goes to work at 7am. I'm done with him. I don't have a problem with someone making sure it works before buying it (I know I would), but you're not going to insist on paying me less than half of what I'm asking for it and then acting like you have the right to come pick it up at the asscrack of dawn and test it out while my newborn twins are sleeping. I finally told him if he wants a $20 vacuum to go to Target and buy a handvac.
Maybe I'll just keep the damn vacuum out of spite. LOL
Re: craigslist vent
Selling stuff on craigslist is hel| sometimes. ?We got rid of a bunch of stuff when DH and I moved in together, and I swear I would have 4 no-shows before someone finally took something, even when we were giving it away.
?
I hope your Target comment made his head explode.?
Or one for the basement? We use our old one for sucking up the spider/dust webs.
I was looking for a mattress on craigslist once and I talked to this crazy guy who all of a sudden lost his shiit and started sreaming at me. He called me a stupid cvnt. It was insane.?
I hung up on him and he called me back, I was actually kind of scared!?
I had the same thing happen. We are trying to sell my car on craigslist. I had a guy call me and ask me to sell it for $4,000 cash. I told him no, it is worth at least $6,000 and wouldn't you want to come see it before you make an offer. He called me an old hag, and told me to go to the bar and get my ass laid so I'm not so testy. I was like um.... I am married and 23. Not old or a hag? Loser. I took my car off that day.
I would definitely post again - somewhere between Tues & Friday.
If you post on the weekends or Monday, it can get lost in everything.
I think $50 is very good so I wouldn't really deviate too much. You should eventually find a serious buyer.
I've bought and sold on CL quite a bit and I'm learning little tricks here and there to get more serious buyers.
I was selling a watch for $100 OBO and someone offered me $25. Yes, of course $25 would be anywhere close to my best offer ;-P
Finally sold it for $65 after weeding out the crazies.
