I am so overwhelmed with all the choices out there...in-home, nanny, daycare centers...how did you go about your search? Did you decide ahead of time what type of childcare you wanted and go from there? Or did you interview with in-home and centers and decide from there?
One of our SAHM friends was going to watch the babies for us for the first 6 months or so...but it looks like she will be going back to work part time now so we now have to start looking ASAP and I have no idea how to even begin!
Re: How did you decide on childcare?
My state has a website of licensed day-care centers and in-home care. That's where I started my search. I also asked around on my local board. There is also a Yahoo community for moms in my area, a friend of mine is a member and has passed along nanny postings. At the end of the day, I waited too long to start looking, so I just got onto the waiting list of the first place I visited becuase a) there was no wait list fee; b) I was most likely going to get a spot; c) it's the closest to my house and least expensive; and d) seemed fine when I visited. Good luck!
Hmm, honestly I have been provrastinating this task. We cannot afford a nanny, so that takes that out of the running. And I have not decided upon a facility or in-home yet. I know there are state sites you can go to to search licensed facilites. And some states sites you can see if they have had any points against them and what it was for. Such as no plug covers or child found wandering etc...
Either way, this is not a task I'm looking forward too and sounds like it will be a bit on the overwhelming side...
