Starting at about 2 months, our DS was sleeping pretty good, almost STTN. He go down about 9:00 PM and sleep until 3:30 - 4:00 AM, get up to nurse, and then back to sleep until somewhere between 6:00 - 7:00 AM, and then I'd get up and get ready for work. Even though he was getting up once to nurse, we felt that was good for his age.
At 4 months old, he started sleeping horribly, up every 45 minutes - 2 hours every night, any a lot of time time, once he wakes up around 4:00 AM, he's up until about 5:00 or 5:30 AM (he's currently up now), before going back to sleep and letting me get another 45 minutes - 1 hour cat nap before getting up for work. He's sleeping worse than when he was a newborn and I'm exhausted!
DH helps at night, but I have never him expected to really help with the overnights since he works at 4 AM, and some of the times he's not getting home from his job at the theatre until midnight or 1 AM (he's only at the theatre a couple times a month). We also own are own stage lighting business, so that keeps him out late on weekends (until 2 or 3 AM) and then he still has to go to his full time job at 4 AM. So, a lot of the times he's running on no sleep, so when he does get to sleep, I pretty much get up with DS, and I'm OK with that.?
I just want to know when my practically STTN baby went, its like he reverted at 4 months old and still not sleeping good at 6.5 months old. Anyone else with a DC around the same age going through this?
We cosleep (although we always have and he was sleeping good until 4 months old) & are really trying to transition him to his own crib very soon. That's just a battle too because the sleep training is on me and though he'll take naps in his crib or pack n play, put him in his crib overnight and he screams bloody murder to the point of gagging and sometimes making himself throw up.
Sorry this got so long. Just wanted to know that I'm not alone with a 6.5 month old that sleep like crap, since I always see the posts about how others have a DC this age that's sleep 10-12 hours at a time. I'm so jealous!?
Re: 6.5 month DC sleeps like crap; anyone else?
what time are you putting him down to sleep? still 9 pm? if so, that may be too late. I read "Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child" and in that book he states babies should be in bed by 6:30. I always put my daughter in her crib by 6:30 even if she doesn't seem tired. I will put her down earlier though if she seems tired. she sleeps through until 6am.?
the other thing is I do the exact same routine every single night. I even read her 2 books right before bed, the first one will vary but the second is always the same book. 6.5 months is a good time to start a routine if you don't already have one.
also, when I transitioned from co-sleeping to putting her in her crib I would have to go in there a lot at first to pick her up, calm her & set her back down. I also never spoke to her when she would wake up, just comfort & lay her back down.
good luck!?
I feel your pain...but my DS is almost 11 months :-) I'll be your non stop wake up buddy!

I have to say that DD was the EXACT same way, until the last couple weeks. I don't know of a switch flipped or what, but she is (fingers crossed) all the sudden almost STTN and actually napping in her crib. It's crazy. And I literally did nothing. I can't tell you what it was, as I have no idea, but I think she is just growing out of it.?
We do have a very set bedtime routine, that we have been doing since about month 2. She also goes to bed at 7, sometimes 6:30 if she's had crappy naps that day. I completely agree about the earlier bedtime. Putting them to bed earlier helps a ton. She's been going to bed at this time since month 2 as well. ?
