I was 36 weeks when I got my first ones with DS. And it was all downhill from there. My belly was covered in them by the time I delivered 4 weeks later.
For those using creams....stretch marks are genetic. You can sit in a tub of lotion and if you're going to get them you're going to get them. There is thought it will help with their color...so I guess keep using them for that.
I got my first one with my DD at 33 weeks. By 38 weeks they covered my "under belly" so I couldn't see them. I thought I had escaped getting them bad. Then I had my c-section and was able to see my belly.....talk about shocked. They are all flesh colored now....they were a purple/redish color. I used Mederma (I think that's what it's called) on my scar and my stretch marks, and by 3 or 4 months PP the color in them had disappeared.
Hate to break to all you trying so desperately to prevent them but they are genetic. While the extra elastin may make them less red, you cant prevent them.
I got mine at 18 weeks with DD, by 36 weeks they literally went from crotch to boobs...I pray NO ONE gets them this bad.
I can't tell you when they started, but I have them! Nothing new for me, I have them on my hips, boobs, back of knees, inner arms, and lower abdomen from my growing during puberty.
They are all skin color now, and not as deep feeling as the ones on my stomach, and I never put anything on them.
It's just in my genes, and they will eventually turn to skin color... but right now I look like a cat scratch post (and I'm -10lbs from pre-preg weight)
My SIL was so excited that she *didn't* get them... then she woke up at 37 weeks and swears they happened overnight.

When I was 12 and was over 200 pounds. Seriously though, those stretch marks all but disappeared over time and they're back now. Haven't gotten any new ones...yet.
I got them on my boobs almost immidietely. I can't remember exactly when they started to show up on my hips, maybe around week 20. Now they are on my hips, thighs and butt. I lotion every day and it does nothing. It sucks! I hate them!
