Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Am I getting a good deal for pictures?

There's a local gal who is running a special this month for what is half price of her regular price. She's going to take 2-3 hours of photos, were going to 3 different places (one being in studio), and I get a cd with all of the edited pictures (between 60 and 80). All for $75. That sounds like a good deal? I wanted to go this route instead of one of the photo studios like Penney's or Sears.

  • Definitely a good price- do you get to print off pictures from the CD though?

But 2-3 HOURS?? That's waaaaay overkill for baby pictures. You're better off sticking with one location (maybe inside and outside of the same place?) and just doing as many pics as you can.

  • Yeah, I get to do whatever I want with the pictures once I have them. And the time isn't all at once, we're separating them throughout the day. My LO loooooves the camera, so I'm not worried about the burnout. And the only reason we're doing the 3rd place is because we're adding ourselves in the photos, and the 3rd place has meaning for us, and it's not where I wanted her inside and outside pictures to be.

  • As a photographer... it is so important to plan that extra time. If LO is fussy, has a blow out, or something else comes up you do not want to rush her.

As long as you like the photographer's work, you are getting a good deal.?

  • That's one of those things that sounds too good to be true. I mean, that's really cheap. Will she be editing the pictures? ?Because, even if she just takes the pictures and uploads them, she's making less than $25/hour. There is a photographer here locally that I use and a mini session with her is 30 minutes and $180.
    Ridley Run 3.1 - 4/9/11 - 34:24 - 1st race evah!
    Kelly Monaghan's 5K - 5/15/11 - 3rd Place in AG
    Walk the Talk 5K - 5/18/11 - 31:12 PR
    Ridley Run 3.1 - 4/14/12 - 1st race of the year, 32:45
  • Yeah, she does beautiful work. And she suggested the extra places to begin with, and she seemed really excited, so I feel better knowing that I won't feel like I'm overdoing it, or asking too much. Plus she's really flexible with schedule and everything else.

Yes, they will be edited pictures. And this is a second job for her. It's not the only thing she does. But she does have a studio, and I know several people who have used her, and I've seen more than a gagillion pictures she's done, and there hasn't been anything I wasn't impressed with.

  • Sweet Jesus, I'd be willing to drive to Bradenton to have her do Joseph's at that price.
  • Well, I was semi-frantic, because I had seen it, and thought about it, and then realized that she was only doing that price for the month of March, and then they went back up to $150 in April. Which I still don't think is a bad price. But DH ended up going to the emergency room a couple weeks ago, and we still hadn't got caught up with the funds we lost. So my brother decided to buy them as her birthday gift, so I had to book it right away...I wasn't letting that chance get away haha
