2nd Trimester

Question, When did you break down and buy maternity cloths?

Im only about 19 weeks and this time around Im showing way sooner. My last pregnancy went to 26 weeks (I delivered early), and I never got the chance to even start looking. I was super sick through that whole pregnancy.  Im way bigger now at 19 weeks than I was at 26 weeks with my first. Im almost to the point where I cant fit into any of my regular cloths and its really getting the best of me. I still dont feel like I should be shopping for maternity pants, at least, this soon. Sad Am I over reacting or do I just need to fess up?

  • Um it's really not that soon at all.  I started at like 10 weeks! Most people are showing by 19 weeks.
  • I started wearing maternity at 9-10 weeks. I couldn't fit into my normal pants after that. I could get away with wearing non-maternity shirts for a few weeks after that but soon had to graduate to full maternity.

  • I bought my first pair of maternity jeans at 12 weeks.  I know that's pretty early, but my pre-pg were getting uncomfortable because of the bloat.  At 21 weeks I mix and match pre-pg tops and maternity tops.  Comfort is very important to me Smile

  • i think i was in maternity pants by 14 weeks.

there is clearly no hard and fast rule for when to buy them. if you are going to be  more comfortable in maternity pants, then it is the time to buy them.

trust me, you will be glad you did, AND they look like regular pants.  i was astounded, i bought maternity jeans and i a) felt better and b) looked better 'cause my clothes fit.

i recommend Gap maternity, lots of stuff on sale always.

  • I bought my first maternity jeans at 10 wks. Mainly just for comfort. I can still get in my jeans and use my bella band but I got annoyed with my bella band. So I got a pair of secret fit belly jeans and I love them!

  • I got some for christmas from mom and DH.  I started wearing the secret fit jeans right away ((SO COMFORTABLE))
  • I have a couple of mat tops, and one pair of pants. I can still get away with low-rise jeans and yoga pants (no dress code where I work), and empire waist tops are in now so I just wear regular clothes in a bigger size.

  • I had them around, so right around 15 weeks when it was that or not be real comfy...but with the first except for jeans (my butt shows way before anything else) I was at about 20 weeks
  • i've been in maternity jeans for about 6 weeks - at least, and maternity some maternity shirts the last few weeks.  i don't think there's a right/wrong time to start wearing them.
  • Around Thanksgiving. I needing my eating pants, a la Joey on Friends. Once the bloat went away, I was still uncomfortable in my regular clothes since I was between sizes anyway. It was just easier that way.
  • 15 weeks...sometimes I wear both maternity pants and a maternity shirt...and sometimes I mix it up...today i went back to regular pants not buttoned or zipped...dont know why, but I love having maternity clothes...they are great!

  • I only have 1 pair of maternity jeans-I use my bella band with all of my work pants. I bought some regular shirts in a size bigger than my usual, and a handful of maternity tops. I'm living in yoga pants at home though-they are wonderful!

  • At 17 weeks I broke down and bought mat. jeans because mine were so uncomfortable.  I have not bought dress pants but this week I am getting where they are getting really tight.  I will probably be going this weekend to get some.  Every person is different so when its time its time.
  • I've been wearing maternity jeans since I was about 12-13 weeks.  I didn't like wearing a rubber band to hold my jeans together and mine were way too tight.  I love the under-belly jeans and hopefully I can wear these the entire pregnancy!

  • I have been in maternity pants since 12wks.  I finally went up a shirt size at 14 weeks.

  • I got my first pair of maternity jeans at 20wks
  • Um...I still dont have any mat clothing. The time is coming tho.
  • I bought some maternity shirts at 12 weeks, because they are a bit longer and more comfy.  I wore my regular pants undone with a bella band until about 16 weeks, then I got a pair of Old Navy full panel boot cut jeans and they are AWESOME!!  So comfortable!  I wish I could wear them when I am not pg anymore too... I still wear normal lounge pants/yoga pants but they are low cut enough that they are right below my belly.
  • I'm already in maternity pants. I'm having twins so I'm measuring like I'm 25 weeks. But I've been feeling like I needed maternity clothes since I was 13 weeks.
  • already in them!! i'd assume most ppl are by their 2nd tri esp if it's not their first. i was much later with my first, but 'm on #3 now and am showing much sooner.
  • Buy them now so you will get your money's worth out of them. I loved the stuff I bought so much that I wanted to start wearing them now.

The only problem is its cold here still and can't wear the cute summer mat clothes I bought yet...bummer.

  • Man!  When you get some maternity clothes you are going to be one happy mama!  the comfort difference is astounding.  In fact after I had DS the first time I wore non-maternity pants I was shocked by how uncomfortable they were!!  You will get really used to the feeling!!!
  • I started wearing maternity pants at around 12 weeks! So I would say that 19 weeks def isn't too early. If anything you're an amazing person to squeeze into your regular pants for that long!?

  • 8 weeks - I had BAD bloat! ?And this weekend, all of sudden, I'm showing a little! ?I've moved on to maternity shirts this week, too.
  • I have two reasons why I haven't bought yet, and even these are about to be moot. I was on my way to losing almost 20 pounds when I found out, so I'm now just about out of my "fat" pants. Also, I'm broke lol. I have to wear long jeans and they are ridiculously expensive soo I'm saving. I've tried on some capris and stuff though and I am IN LOVE with maternity pants. I'm dying to get paid next week so that I can buy a pair.

  • I finally broke down this weekend but I am still in most of my pre-pregnancy stuff. Just some shorts and nice shirts for summer I got this weekend. I still can't fit into maternity jeans yet.
  • I bought maternity pants last week and just started wearing a pair today.  I could not believe how much more comfortable they are versus wearing my regular work pants with the bella band!  Anyway, I highly recommend gap maternity.  The clothes look and fit great!
  • I started wearing jeans around 10-12 weeks. I can still wear *some* of my pre-pregnancy tops, but I have had to start buying maternity tops as of last week (week 18)
