My doc didnt track it either, I asked why and she said the pathology report would let us know if she got everything out. And it did.
See... this makes me nervous..... my doctor isn't tracking my hcG OR doing pathology. She refused to so pathology even though we requested. She told DH I was high strung and we just fell into the one out of four statistic.... sheesh..... now I am worried....

My doctor is not tracking my levels either. I go in for a follow up on Monday, but I highly doubt they will draw any blood. I got the same 1 in 4 statistic speech.

Wow thats kinda rude, why wouldnt she do a path report? High strung? She doesnt sound very professional. Sorry you had to deal with that.

She said it was against hospital policy... but the nurse got a weird look on her face and told us it wasn't. I think she didn't want to bother... Also, there was a chance the tissue had degraded since the baby remained in me for over a week after death.... she told DH this while I was unconcious... after probably thinking she didn't handle our joint coversation well.... arg.

My RE didn't track my HCG. He just had me come in after 6 weeks and did an exam. I didn't even get bloodwork. I had a pathology report done, actually at 2 places, but both came back as nothing since it'd been about a week and a few days since the baby died at 9 weeks. So they found nothing and it cost me $200. We started a new IUI cycle and my beta is 3/30. So it all seemed to go okay.

I would look for a new ob if I was you. You dont want someone who is going to brush off your feelings and call you high strung (true or not).
If the doc didnt get everything in the D&C more then likely your body will while you are recovering from the surgery. Otherwise you will need a new D&C. Hopefully none of you need htis.
The benifit of watching your levels go down, is you ahve an idea when to expect AF and when your body will 'go back to normal'. My doc doesnst follow levels unless you had a certain type of m/c that requires it. I had a partial molar pregnancy, it is very important that my leveles are monitored for six months due to the chance of cancer. I like to call it my m/c with a side of cancer. Ectopics also get monitored.

My midwife didn't track levels, didn't do pathology, none of that. My body seemed to be doing what it was supposed to be doing, so why bother? There's nothing that can be done to rid your body of the hormones any faster, so to a certain degree, it just becomes one more thing to worry about. Tons of people on here seem to get a lot of bloodwork done, but I don't know many people in real life who do.
I'm the one who posted the below question about HCG levels after a D&C, but I wanted to point out that I'm seeing an RE since we've been TTC for nearly 4 years. Because of this, my level of monitoring was higher in general than normal pregnant women get (3 betas, weekly ultrasounds, etc.). So I definitely wouldn't infer from my situation that HCG monitoring after a D&C is the norm.
Re: Benefit of tracking HCG after D&C?
My doctor didn't to either. All she told me was that tracking my HCG levels wasn't necessary. What can you find out from the pthology?
