Parenting after a Loss

Apparently Leo just wants to sleep in a bed.

He had an awful night (what else is new) and I was trying to get him to take a quick morning nap just so I could shower. Well, he was fighting it, so I took him into my bed and snuggled up with him. I woke up an hour later (guess I needed the sleep) and left, but he's been sleeping in my bed for 2.5 hours now. Plus, he has soothed himself back to sleep 3 times which has NEVER happened- I always have to go in and lull him back down when he fusses.

Maybe I should just buy him a queen sized bed with a Sealy Back Care mattress? :)

  • Mine are the same way, I guess they just all have good taste.

  • i'm glad you got some sleep! what do you think it was - is it warmer? cozier? sometimes i think all of this SIDS stuff (which is totally on the ball!) makes cribs and baby's rooms so sterile! i would hate to sleep on a bed with only a fitted sheet. and on my back. no blankets! no pillow! no comfy positions!
  • I know! I keep trying to put him in his crib (he's been in the cocoon swing since birth) and the poor little guy tries to curl up on his side (his fave sleeping position) and the mattress is so firm that he just kind of "floats" there... can't explain it but it just looks so uncomfortable and he tips over and gets so frustrated!

I think the cocoon swing may be getting annoying for him- I think he's ready for a real mattress- but I really think the SIDS-regulation crib set-up we have is just too much like sleeping on a rock. Not sure what to do about that.

  • What a selective lil stinker! All this time he's probably been thinking "This crib is so not my sleep number."
  • Yianni has been doing the same thing! DH likes to have him in bed with us. They snuggle together.  He is starting to move quite a bit in his crib and that scares me.  Last night I found him horizontal in the crib with his leg poking out.  I ordered a breathable bumper ASAP.

Hope you get some sleep tonight and Leo, too.

  • Perhaps he can smell you and DH on the sheets. Maybe sleeping with one of his sheets before you put it on his crib mattress would fool him.
