Should I get one of these? I am trying to figure out how to get DD to go to bed earlier and continue to sleep through the night. Has anyone read these books? If so, did it work?
I'm in the process of reading the No Cry sleep solution so I haven't tried anything from it yet. I got all my sleep books from the library- otherwise I would have spent a small fortune on them! LOL So you can always check them out that way and then buy one if you want to keep it.
I did the Happiest Baby on Block DVD and found it had a lot of great tips. I didn't really use it specifically though for getting baby to STTN or on a sleep schedule. Your baby is still pretty young and sleep patterns are going to be changing a lot of the next couple of weeks, seems early to start sleep training.
They are both very different books. HBOTB is a great book, but it focuses on calming a crying newborn. But I think it is worth a read and I thought it was great. I also read the no cry sleep solution and its mostly geared towards babies older than 4 months but worth a read as well. As for sleeping through the night, i think its more of a developmental thing and when your baby is ready, she will do it. Its normal for her to wake up at night.
DD #1 passed away in January 2011 at 14 days old due to congenital heart disease
DD#2 lost in January 2012 at 23 weeks due to anhydramnios caused by a placental abruption
My doctor gave me the HBOTB DVD to watch and it was a lifesaver!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is by Dr. Steve Harvey I think. You could probably rent it from your local library maybe.

I believe it's Dr. Harvey Karp ... but yes, the DVD was really helpful and although we never had to use all 5 S's, the swaddling and shushing tips were pretty helpful!
