Is it too late to CD?

Is it too late for me to start CDing to save money compared to disposables? Where do I start? My DD is almost 8 months old. I am looking for something on the easier side as DD goes to a babysitter as I work full time.

Re: Is it too late to CD?

  • I don't think it's too late... some moms on here started way later :)

For the easy factor, I'd stick to pockets and AIOs

  • We didn't start until DS was 7 months and we *should* break even in a few months.  So, yes- I think it's worth it.

  • nope, it's not too late. that's when I started.  We have pockets for daycare.  i use fitteds and covers or PFs and covers when we're at home, so I only had to get like 14 pockets and i do laundry every other day.

We started at 14m. I don't think it is too late at all. ?I use all pockets, and my daycare accepted to use them too. ?
  • I started at 14 1/2 months and have broken even... Granted I got all mine on sale and clearance and such.. I'd stick with pockets, that's what we got so it would be an easy tranisition. diapers.com has BG 3.0s I just got 3 for $43.85. Coupon ASKI9156 is $10 off. I bought them like 45 minutes ago and they should be delivered friday. I have 16 diapers with a few extra hemp inserts and some bum spray that I spent $240 on.

It's never too late!  You'll see your costs back before you potty train, and even more so if you have another babe to diaper later.

I agree - pockets and AIOs (all-in-ones) are easiest.  Do some research on a few websites (www.pinstripesandpolkadots, www.cottonbabies.com, www.moderndiapers.com are a few), and maybe think about doing a trial (we did our trial with www.jilliansdrawers.com) to help you decide what will work best for you.

GL!  Once you switch, you won't look back!

  • oh yeah! if you decide to get BGs from Diapers.com, go through ebates to get them and you'll get cash back.

i got my first dipes from Target using the britax-fiasco payoff money :-P

  • I started researching when DD was 11.5mth.  I have BG AIOs and a few pockets and I'm ordering some blueberry's.  I've got all my accessories and we are about ready to get started.  I figure DD probably won't be potty trained until 24mths so that is still a large chunk of time to CD, plus we'll have them for the next kiddo.  I can't remember who it was on here but she said it doesn't have to be all CDs or nothing.  So we are still going to use sposies as we ease into it and then hopefully phase them out as we add to our stash and get more comfortable with it.
  • No way! I just started in January and am loving it.  I second trying pockets and AIO for daycare.  My FIL and DH can use them just fine.  I am excited to start from the beginning with the next baby!
