He has to have the heart cath done. It's a diagnostic procedure to check the pressures in his rt and lft ventricle and to also check the outflow to from the Pulmonary Artery to the lungs. The dr thinks there is calcium build up in between his aortic valve and the homograft that is his "aorta". His homograft is 18 years old and their lifespan is 10-20 years, so most likely the results of the heart cath will show that DH needs to have this replaced via open heart surgery. We're hoping if they do recommend doing open heart surgery to do it sooner than later. DH is in great health, no symptoms being caused by the homograft getting old. Please keep him/us in your thoughts and prayers over the next couple of months. I'll keep everyone updated as the process goes along. If anyone is curious, his condition is call Truncus Arteriosus. He was born with it and has had 5 open heart surgeries to correct it since he was 3 months old.

Re: Update: DH's appt w/ cardiologist
Ugh, I'm so sorry, I know how difficult it is. I definitely agree, if he needs the surgery, sooner is better than later. The waiting is terrible.
If there is anything I can do or you just need to talk, you've got my email address. I've been there so I totally understand. Hang in there. Adelaide and I will send good thoughts and prayers your way as well.
