Pregnant after a Loss

Questions for doula

At my last doc appt, I mentioned that I'd prefer drug-free/minimal use during childbirth (realizing anything could happen!) and what was the best way to prepare for that. ?She recommended a doula and there is one that works exclusively with the clinic. ?I love that she's already familiar with the docs and hospital and vice versa. ?

We meet with her on Thurs. ?Google is giving me really generic questions to ask. ?Anyone have good questions to ask to determine if this is really right for us and if we will work well together?

?TIA!?

  • What's your favorite song/movie/book?

Why do you like/dislike being a doula? What made you want to do it?

What would you suggest I do now to prepare myself for giving birth?

    - There' s a few I might ask, also, the most important thing for me be that she not get between my husband and I, you know? So I might ask her what she believes his role is.

I might also ask about perineal(sp?) massage (which would be really, REALLY awkward but I dread the tearing).

  • Oh, I'm not brave....meds affect me REALLY strongly! ?During my d&c, I had 1/4 of the normal meds and still threw up. ?I'll do just about anything to minimize medications.
  • i think it is great that your doc's office was open about it - that doesn't always happen! i would ask about if she does any after-stuff like lactation consulting and what she will do that day when problems might arise - will she help explain things to you as they happen, etc? just some sort of rough idea of what she will do for you that day in particular. and how to write your birth plan to make sure to cover all bases.

good luck - i hope to do the same thing!
