DH and I are starting to purchase baby related items. One item per paycheck-big items like stroller, crib etc to try to space the expense. We just started this, and some are saying we're far behind and others say we're way early. Thoughts?
i don't think it's too early. do whatever works for you and dh. we had our furniture, bedding and stroller purchased by about 22 weeks. waiting until after shower to purchase any more big items (if necessary)
We haven't. I bought myself a diaper bag and that's it so far. We are going to wait until after the showers and then get the rest of what we need. We don't even have the room ready yet for anything, I want new carpet so it needs to be empty.
I haven't personally purchased anything, but my mother bought our crib and dresser.... of which the dresser came in today!! Yay! Other than that, DH and I have only bought a couple of outfits.
whenever your comfortable. lots of ppl have told me that i am "moving too fast" since her room is done and we are settled for what we are going to buy until after the shower.. but i am also planning my wedding, so i could really give a shiit what they say. to each their own.. whenever your comfortable. theres not right or wrong
We haven't bought anything yet but we did redo the closet in the baby's room which was pretty expensive. DH made the comment "This baby's already got me working!"

We bought the travel system on Black Friday (around 13wks) cause it was a really good deal. We ordered the crib at 20wks the day of our big u/s.
I'd say to space it out so that you don't feel the financial strain all at once. We're paying cash for everything so it was as soon as we'd saved up enough money to buy it.
While I plan on getting the important stuff new I have been garage saling for stuff that I can get, I got a diaper genie with 2 refills for $3 and a boppy for $3, I am probably going to wash it 50 times and get lots of different covers for it too. I will be purchasing the crib and dresser in a couple months, I found a good deal on BRU. It has an attached changing table with small drawers and shelves. I am going to look for a good deal on a dresser, I think the best way not to flood your wallet with the expenses is to spread it out over time.
We've been buying for 3-4 weeks now, but mainly when I find great deals. I got a great deal on a diaper bag and a closeout on the travel system I wanted.
I just got my nursery bedding, crib and dresser in the mail this week. Those were the main items that me and DH were going to buy. Fingers crossed we get the other stuff we need at the shower or from the lovely grandparents. LOL. Oh yea and I did go on a huge shopping spree for baby clothes as soon as we found out at 17 weeks!
We started buying clothes at 16wks, because I had a coupon to Carters and they were having a 50% off sale on everything (yea I went a little crazy). Around week 18 we went on ahead and put the stroller in layway. I wanted to do layway, because I wasnt 100% sure I wanted that stroller, but it was on sale and I didnt want to miss it. So we will pick that up this weekend. As far as the bigger items we haven't bought because some of our family have told us they were getting it. So we will start bothering them around 30wks if we dont hear anything.
I have not bought anything yet. I wanted to wait till we knew the sex first. I also want to wait till after the baby shower. I put a bunch of stuff on our registry. I have been starting to put money away for stuff that that we need and didn't get at the shower.
I bought myself a diaper bag because it was on sale, and hubbby and I bought crib and dresser. That is all I am buying until after my shower--then we will see what is left!! I don't think it is ever too early..especially if you find items are good prices!!
The only big item that we've purchased so far has been the nursery furniture. Other than that, we've bought like books & a couple of little toys that we just thought were too cute. I'll probably go a bit crazy when we find out the sex, but for the most part, we're going to wait until after the showers to see what else we will need. I don't think that it's too early though. I'm a planner by nature, so I almost need that comfort of knowing that we'll have what we need.
