anyone use Empire Today carpets???

I have heard a couple bad things about them but can't remember form who...wondering if anyone has GOOD experiences? (or bad really...). Home Depot has a four week turnaround on carpet installation and we want to get it done quick...

Or if there is anywhere else in south puget sound you recommend?

Thanks!! :)

Re: anyone use Empire Today carpets???

  • I had Empire Carpets come to my house for a free in home estimate and they were completely a rip off.  They didn't really give us a huge variety of carpet to choose from - the only choice was the style and color.  Carpet brand name was unlisted so I didn't really know if I was getting a good deal.  We knew a good range of how much carpet should cost and I think they quoted us $13k for the entire house.  Plus the lady wouldn't tell us how many sqft we needed and told us she didn't calculate how much carpet we needed from it!  How else do people normally measure how much carpet is needed?

Finally we went to Great Floors and got our whole house done for $8k with a pretty good brand called Karastan even though I prefer the Shaw brand.  They gave us free padding and they installed the carpet very fast.  It was within a week and all the carpet was basically precut so they only took one day to install.

If you are a Costco member you should also look into them.  They usually have a pretty good reputation and did a great job on our shutters.  We also got a quote from Empire Carpet on shutters and they also quoted us a very high price in comparison.

I did call Abby Carpet actually... they have a 2 week turnaround she said - I would like it a little faster in time for DD's bday party but we may end up using them - we will see :) I just don't want to pay for our carpets to be cleaned for DD's bday if we are then going to have new carpet installed a week or two later. Our carpet is in SAD shape.

  • we used great floors...   super quick, reasonable and nicely done

  • We used Carpet Liquidators - they have one in Tacoma

  • We useed them at our old house and what we got was super cheap carpet that looked like crap a year later! I think its worth a trip to bellevue to check out Profloors. They sell wholesale to the public and I have used them for new carpet in our old house and I'm buying all the tile for our remodel from them as well. They are who my mom uses a ton for her interior design business and their prices and the quality is much better than anywhere else that I have seen. They can refer you to come carpet installers that really know their stuff too! Honestly home depot was more expensive for less quality carpet...they are a rip off when it comes to install costs.

  • I haven't, but the show Clean House uses them for every home makeover.
