It seems silly at 13 weeks to be stressing about names, but I am because I want to go into our big u/s with one boy and one girl name, then know who we're going home with.
Well, the boy name is set I think. But I'm having so much trouble with a girl name (issues with our last name that make a lot of names not work). For example, we both love the name Taylor, but it was just too rhyme-y with our last name, so I sadly had to veto it.
So I've been randomly throwing names at DH here and there, and I've been so amazed at the strong opinion he has about names. And the silliest thing is, almost every name I tell him makes him think of a little redhead girl in overalls with freckles. Huh?? Let me just say that neither of us has red hair or freckles. I think my DH is on crack sometimes with the responses he gives to some of my name suggestions.
Anyway, this has gotten long - but anyone else having trouble with DH on names?
P.S. I've asked DH to come up with his own list of names, but he hasn't really done this, so no luck getting suggestions from him so far.
Re: Trouble agreeing on names with DH?
I'm guessing your DH just doesn't see the need to come up with names so soon. My DH still thinks we have plenty of time, and I'm almost 30wks!
DH hasn't really given me many suggestions, but I tend to toss names at him randomly. We do have one we agreed on, and I keep checking in to see if he still likes it. We still need a middle name though. Hopefully your DH will come around soon!
Yes, me for sure! We have agreed on a few boy names, but girl names DH and I can't agree on. Each of the girl names I throw out, he thinks of a girl that he isn't particularly fond of. It is so hard!
I started picking very uncommon names and he's actually been pretty agreeable. Our last name is also causing a problem with quite a few of our girl names. Frustrating!
DH vetoed most of my names when we were trying to find a name for our DD - but we didn't even start looking for names until 20 weeks when we know if it was a boy or girl.
But then between 20 weeks and when I gave birth, we just "kept an ear out" for names that we liked, and one day DH heard the name Natalie on TV and suggested it and we were both like "yes, that's it"!
I shot down plenty of his ideas.. it actually worked out because it left very few choices and so we were pretty sure what we would go with.
