Babies: 0 - 3 Months

bald spot=bad mom

My DD has the worst bald spot on the back of her head. She is loosing hair every where but the back of her head is clearly from sleeping on her back.

Is anyone else's LO experiencing this? I don't know how "normal" this is. I'm feeling horrible, like people will look at her and say, poor baby your mom never takes you out of bed.

I try to sleep her on her stomach during the day when I can watch her; but, she has to be in a deep sleep for me to put her there, otherwise she just wakes up and fusses. I ordered a Moby so I can wear her while I go through my day too, so I'm hoping that will help.

  • totally totally normal. almost all babies get this around 1-2 months. ds's is still there. you are not a bad mommy at all! honestly anyone who has ever had a child will understand. mostly people want to see babies faces and don't look at the back of their heads anyway!?

  • DS has a pretty bad receding hair line - and it's not like I'm making him sleep doing headstands on a tilt.

I don't think it's coorelated is what I am saying. Wink Babies lose their first hair - it's normal and I wouldn't stress.

  • You're not a bad mom!  DD has one, too.  In fact, she's shedding a lot of her hair, actually.  It happens.  Some babies lose hair, some don't.  Some rub a bald spot on the backs of their head, some done.  It's going to be okay.  :)
  • dd's hair looks pretty bad too. she's got a little base of hair from bottom of one ear to the other, but other than that there's not much hair left. I hope she grows more hair soon...!
  • My little girl has a mullet.  I wish it was long on top so I could put bows in it...but no...she's business in the front and party in the back!

Don't feel bad.  Babies lose their hair before getting new hair.

  • I once judged a foster mom because her baby had a bald spot on the back of her head. Apparently it's normal, so I no longer judge. I am still afraid it'll happen to DS, but he doesn't let me lay him down long enough. I wouldn't worry too much. You're not a bad mom. But someone without kids may secretly judge you.

  • All back sleeping babies get that!

    DD's is still there.

I used to be one who judges-that's why I'm worried!
