Pregnant Bridesmaids come on in!

So im going to be the matron of honor in my best friends wedding in my 20th week! Im not worried at all about the dress or anything but wanted to ask you your opinions.

Im assuming I should just order the dress a few sizes bigger than i am (im a 6 now)? Im sure Davids Bridal will have their opinion on what i should do as well.

You might have to have the waistline raised a little bit.

I think I'll be about 24 weeks or something when I'm in a wedding. The bride still hasn't picked out a dress but I was told to order it in a size bigger when she does choose one.

I'm not a BM, but I had two pg in my own wedding last year...one was 4 mos, one was 8. Both pre-ordered their dresses in larger sizes, and then did a last minute re-measure before the order went through on rush. Both dresses fit - my sister had to let her straps down a little to accomodate her growing bustline (@ 8 mos.) I think my other MOH had to take hers in slightly at 4 mos.

FYI: David's will alter the dress one to two weeks before the wedding without having to pay a rush fee for pregnant women. I would order it a few sizes bigger (maybe 2). It's easier/cheaper to alter down than it is to alter up.

My friend who is pregnant was a bridesmaid last month and she was in her 20th week. She ended up picking a dress with an empire waist so that it could be more comfortable and look more flattering. Like the PP said, I love the dress, but I would pick something with a higher waistline.

That was my sister's MOH dress for my wedding! =D In Victorian Lavendar, though.

My friend whose wedding I will be in in August (@ 7 mos) found a maternity bridesmaid's dress for me, so that was kind of nice. I'm not going to order it until a little closer though, just to make sure I get everything right.

I agree with Malivabride. I am going to be nearly 9 months at my sister's wedding, and Davids Bridal told me I have to choose something empire waist and flowy, 2 sizes bigger, then have it altered. Thankfully for you, I think at 20 weeks they can definitly work with you with that dress. Its cute!

If at all possible, you might want to ask for some extra material too just in case your boobs totally explode in size or you are feeling a little too confined. But GL!

I am the MOH at my brother's wedding in June and will be 20 weeks. I am waiting until the last possible moment to order. Luckily my future SIL picked an empire waist with a flowing skirt from a company that has a quick turnaround. I plan to order one size up from whatever my current measurements are when I place the order.

I am going through the same issue right now. I will be 7 months at my friends wedding in July. We had already ordered the dresses (before I found out I was expecting). We won't be sure if the dress will work for me until further along - I can reorder the size in late June. But all the tailors I have been to said that you need a empire waist dress to make it work & alterations are going to cost me an arm & leg. Fortunately my friend is great about all of this!

I will be about 5 months pregnant and in a wedding this August. I was planning on ordering one size up, but now I am thinking I should go 2 sizes up just in case.

On that dress to be honest yes, it will be difficult. That dress has boning and darting in the dress. If you dettached the belt there is still a seam there. However, it is pretty simple to raise the waist about an inch. This might give you a little wiggle room. I would ask first what the dresses skeleton is made out of, and if the boning can be cut down to accomidate your growing belly. More than likely they will have to deconstruct the entire dress and reconstruct it after raising the waistline. Seocndly, if the bride wants the dresses all the same length they would have to add material to hem. Good luck!

I am the MOH in a July wedding. I will be 26 weeks along. I ordered my dress from David's Bridal last week and got it 2 sizes larger. It is always easier to take a dress in than let it out.

David's Bridal has a line of jersey knit dresses that are perfect for those of us expectant bridemaids.

The dress you are ordering was one I wore in a wedding a few years ago. There isn't much give to it and I had to find an emergency seamstress to let it out a little bit for me. She was able to do it though and the dress fit on my friend's big day. I would say go at least 2 sizes larger. It is better to overestimate than under. Good luck!

I was just in a wedding in Feb (I was 23 weeks at the time)...I ordered the dress one size up and still had to have alterations done to add 3 inches right before the wedding! It's just so hard to estimate how big you will be come the day of...GL!

Yeah...added $100 on to a $230 dress! Plus all the other things needed to be in a wedding...bah!

I'll be 31 weeks for my sister's wedding which I am the Maid of Honor. Luckily because I am the MOH I can get away with wearing a different dress and/or cut.

I am thinking any empire waisted dress should work? lol

That's crazy! I'll be 20 weeks for a wedding I'm in, and I'm wearing that same dress in black

I originally ordered only one size bigger, but when it came in and I tried it on, the dress doesn't give much room in the front. I tried on a dress one more size up and they have a six month belly to put on and that worked better. They let me exchange it and order the new size. I would go with the two sizes up and just have the extra fabric around the top altered.
