I'm trying to make a grocery list for my shopping trip this evening, and I have no idea what to buy!
I like to make quick and easy meals. (I am NOT good at cooking, so I can't handle anything complicated.) We don't like anything really fancy.
I also never have things to send with DS to the sitter's for his lunch and snacks.
Your ideas would be really appreciated! TIA.
Re: What's on your grocery list?
I always get a rotisserie chicken already cooked- I am not a good cook either. I slice it up for DS- he loves it. I will cut it up into chunks and bring it with us if we are going somewhere- he eats it cold cometimes- it is already fully cooked.
We always get bananas and string cheese as well. They are good on the go!
Thanks! I just added all of those things to my list. Great ideas.
ditto the pp..rotisserie chicken, bananas, and string cheese are often on our list. Also, yogurt, frozen defrosted frozen mango chunks and strawberries make good snacks. Sometimes for lunch, I will make a bunch of pasta early in the week and then mix it with peas or cut up broccoli, sprinkle on a little parmesan cheese, and voila!...instant baby lunch...one of dd's faves.
Here are other typical things we buy for dd:
low sodium turkey breast from the deli, cut in chunks
applesauce
morningstar farms veggie burgers, chik'n patties, and spinach and artichoke nuggets
lots of different frozen veggies
mini whole wheat bagels
For snacks, we do graham crackers--well really any crackers--Goldfish, etc. I love the graham cracker and regular cracker stix. We also do:
yogurt or yogurt bites (gerber grads)
veggie puffs (gerber grads)
cheese--cubes or shredded
fruit--any kind, cut up
Cheerios or any bite size cereal
Nutri grain bars---Evans favorite!!
For quick dinners, I love the Lunchables Jr. They have meat, cheese and little crackers in them. Come 2 in a pack and so convienent!! The meat and cheese are cut up in small, bite size peices and the amt of food is perfect. We also do:
Easy Mac
hot dogs
frozen veggies--peas, green beans, squash, etc. I love this because I make as much as I need and freeze the rest
Veggie soup--any canned variety. I drain the liquid and he eats the veggies
Kid shaped pasta--wheels, shells etc and mix with alittle butter and parmesean cheese
Chicken breast nuggets--or the breaded kind
Grilled cheese or cheese quesadilla
Sorry, this is long. Hope that helps though.
Thanks so much! All of these replies REALLY helped!
