i just sat straight up in my chair, my eyes bulged, and i slumped back in my chair. this is all so overwhelming.
that looks like a barred rock you have there?
i think you should name one zorrina or something, lol.
Yeah, I'm having to guess on what breeds they are (DH would only let me get the cheapies from TSC for now, I'll have to show you the awesome one I want now).
I think we have two barred rocks, two buff orpingtons, and two reds of some sort.
yes, i expect a thank you from DH. any chicken advice you need, i got it, hehe.
red, daisy is busy baking the next videos. goat babies in t minus 18 days. but i swear, i will not video the actual birth, just the cute babies running around.
but YAY for chickens!!! and just know if one turns all biitchface on you, you can have chicken pot pie.
ooo, i am good at the placing what is what. except for the reds, you won't be able to really tell if they are rhode island or new hampshire until they grow some tail feathers.
and whatever you want my dear, i can get you. hehe. i will ship you my incubator and let you use it if you can't find chicks. i am always happy to fuel an addiction.
and ps, my buff orp and barred rock are my two favs.
you have an expensive taste my dear. there are several breeds of chickens where the rooster looks like that... and DO NOT EVER get jungle fowl (they can look like that). they are farking mean. they are used to breed fighting cocks. (lol)
that looks like a black cooper maran. (see his white legs?) they are the super dark eggs i showed you. but if you get BROWN leghorns, the rooster will look like that, only without the white legs, they will be yellow.

i know waaaay too muchabout chickens.
Damn you're good, woman. He's a French Wheaten (Wheaton depending on spelling) Maran.
I'm terrified of incubating, I want to stick with day-old chickies for a while I think. But finding Maran chicks are a biitch, from my two days of searching so far. And I'd totally want a rooster, not a hen. I'm a dork like that.
I never knew there was so much to know about chickens. I just called ours "the speckled black one over there and the white one over there and the meanass rooster over there...", lol. Our roosters must have been the a$$hole breed because they would chase you and try to cut you but it was funny, lol.

haha, a wheaten is what i meant to type. a black copper has more black. so oops, but that's what i meant. anywho... i have the hookup on wheaten eggs. actually, i can't get them cheap, but i can get them. which is what matters. only they are like $100 for half a dozen, they are from a lady in so.cal. i would hatch them for you and ship them, but i don't know if you can ship from a small post office like ours. i would have to time it and drive them down to vegas when i go to the dentist or something. i love wheatens, i think the hens are the prettiest marans.
but google brown leghorn roosters. that might be your cheap fix.
yes, find me the link. and if you aren't planning on using him for breeding purposes and you aren't concerned with egg color, the quality up to standard doesn't really matter.
but try and find out if they are TPIP certified. and go check out backyardchickens.com. they have a really good forum for learning purposes. but don't snark over there, you will be insta-banned.

Jells, here's the one I told DH I reaaaally want now.
If he's the only rooster we have, I don't care. And I'm willing to go to OK to get him.
