NBR: Debate on our local radio...WDYT?

Over the weekend there was an accident involving a police officer driving on the wrong side of the road, it is suspected she was driving drunk and she killed 4 people, and injured one. She is in critical condition at the local hospital. The debate is if she should be charged with murder, or manslaughter. Also, if she should be held to a higher account since she is supposed to be a servant of the law.WDYT?

This is a link to an article about the story: Not the debate, but just an overview.

Re: NBR: Debate on our local radio...WDYT?

  • Ah yes....  I think she should be charged the same way a normal person would be charged.  If a normal drunk driver who killed somebody gets manslaughter than I think that's what she should get.  Times 4 since 4 ppl were killed...

I don't think anybody should be help in higher esteem or less esteem based on what they do, our their past life history, race gender, age etc.  Everyone should be treated equally.

Should she recover though, I think she should NEVER be able to be in anytype of law enforcement again. including security at six flags!  :0

  • I agree 100% with pp.  Everyone should be treated equally under the law.  She should be charged the exact same way as a civilian would if they did the same thing.  People are outraged when celebrities get away with much lighter terms than the average person, and I think it's just as bad when someone gets more severe punishment because of who they are.

  • She should be charged in the same way a "civilian" would be charged for the same crime. I don't think she should be held to a higher standard, the only thing I think she should receive is maybe some added protection if/when she is put in jail because her safety might be at risk due to her being a cop. And I don't think she should be allowed to serve a police force in any capacity other than perhaps a janitor ever again.
  • She should be presecuted like any other person.
