CD help

I'm fairly new to cloth diapering and use CDs on my twin boys.  We have been using Bumgenius diapers and I must doing something wrong.  Every diaper I put on my boys leaks.  I've "stripped" them according to the instructions on the website, and I try really hard to keep the liners flat and point things where they should be pointed.  I get leaks in legs and on the top, and just don't know what else to try!  At this point, trying other types of diapers isn't really an option, but I am going to try that too.  Any pointers?

Re: CD help

  • how big are your boys?  generally, BG's don't truly fit well until 10lbs or so.  you may just have to wait until your babes fill out a little more to have success with the BG's.

    I've heard 12 or 15 lbs.

  • My boys are 12 and 13 lbs. and I didn't really start them until they were around 10 lbs. because I read that somewhere.  They "fill out" the BG's really well!  (good eaters :)

  • Have you used diaper cream on them? There are some CD safe creams, the others cause repelling. Try scrubbing with some dawn and a toothbrush if so. I had to do that and it worked! What type of detergent do you use? And after you stripped did you rinse more than once to get all the soap residue out? I had to rinse about 3 times.

What they said. And definitely try a different diaper - you can probably trade your BG 3.0s for another kind of diaper - that way, you're only out the shipping.

Really, every kid is different re: the diapers that work best for them.
