Can I exchange at Babies R Us with no receipt?

DH's family threw us a small family-only shower this weekend.  One sister got us a baby monitor but it's not the one we registered for.  I have no idea where it came from - no gift receipt.  I assume that Babies R Us would carry it (not possitive).  Would Babies R Us allow me to exchange the monitor (if they carry it) for the one we registered for?  I'll pay the difference.

I guess if they won't, I'll just keep the one we received as a gift and delete the other from my registry.  It's really not a big issue, just thought I would ask....

  • you would have to have the reciept if it is not on your registry. I asked this question at Babies R Us this weekend.

  • I was told that you can exchange without a problem and return or exchange anything that was on your registry.....
  • They may... we got a stroller last summer for DD and about 3 weeks later the plastic around the handle bar was tearing.  I took it in without a receipt and showed it to her and she took my info and the stroller and sent me to go get a brand new one.    They also took back and gave me store credit for a box of nursing pads with no receipt.   Good luck!

  • I believe so if it is still in the original packaging and has barcodes and what not on it, but only for store credit or exchange.

  • I was there last weekend and saw someone returning two items without a receipt. The first item she scanned and it didn't take so she told her it was not sold at their store and she just handed it back to the customer, the second item was scanned and she gave her a gift card for the price it rang up as.

So if that's the only way you can do it....go online, add it to your registry and then go in the store and return it for a gift card  :)
