OMG, hats off to you with more than one boy! Rowan is mobile (he has taken his first steps!) and is all over the place.
He was SOO fussy yesterday as we tried to wrangle him in. Everything frustrated him and the only thing that made him happy was being able to crawl all over his sister (which of course made her unhappy).
We have a large two story with a mostly tiled downstairs. Any tips on keeping him safe? I want him to be able to explore but at the same time it just seems so dangerous!
Re: Mommies of Boys...come on in!
oh rowan! walking already?!? oh my gosh!
yeah. walking. it's scary. we only have one room in the house safe for the boys to wander in - their playroom. and they definely want OUT. we also have a two story - hardwoods upstairs, ceramic tile downstairs. i'm scared of letting them wander around downstairs, it's totally not babyproofed.
so i have no advice. lots of gates? the foam floors? yeah, really attractive but at least safe.
the boys are COVERED in bruises and bumps right now from this new walking thing. i swear, if CPS saw them, i don't know what they'd do....
How to tell my boys apart
The different types of twins and triplets

My blog * We made the national news!
Ah yes, crazy but fun! My playroom is carpeted and we removed any "dangerous" furniture so that helps. During the day they are barefoot so when they are in any other room (all hardwood and tile in the kitchen) they slip less easily. MH taught them how to go down stairs, which has been so helpful. They know to sit down, turn around and slide down the stairs backwards. This way they aren't tempted to take steps facing forward. We have a lot of gates just to block off the stairs if I'm cooking or something and they are in the kitchen playing (we have stairs off the kitchen that I'm always afraid they'll slip and fall down). My big thing is the climbing, they are always climbing up furniture etc...which is ok except when they try to climb over the back or arms of it. Yikes!
Expect some bruises and bumps...I think it's par for the course!
Umn, yeah. Walking is fuucking terrifying!! My Drake has a HUGE knot on his forehead from conking his head on the coffee table - it's so huge that we were very scared that it was a concussion (it's been ~48 hrs and he's okay, so it looks like it's not a concussion, thank god!).
Our babyproofed room has ceramic tile and an area rug.. no carpet or foam tiles. The floor, so far, hasn't been a danger. It's everything else in the room that they trip over!
Last week they both finally got good enough at walking that I can take them to a park and let them wobble around for awhile. It helps with their frustration a ton, because they are desperate to see new things, and they can roam around as far as their little hearts desire. And it's great for me because it wears them out and they don't get into nearly as much trouble at home after burning off some energy outside.
lol. I will have 3 running around soon- yikes! pad everything! bumpers on all table edges, etc. We got some great play mats on ebay that are not "kid" colored - but look like a straw mat - that are great in our living room (which has hard wood floors) and have helped to absorb the shock of MANY falls - and are also nice for mommy and daddy's backs/knees when we're on the floor playing with him. I suggest you invest
once he walks better it will be easier - less falls, etc. those firs tfew months of walking are scary for sure! I was always picturing what things would tear his face apart if he fell into them- worried sooo much!
yup it is scary scary scary! Both the boys are taking steps...Colton is up to 15 steps in a row
and it seems no matter what they still fall and hurt themselves. we have done the floor mat...but of couse they are never on that when they fall. They are trying to climb on the couches now..fantastic! Mine are INTO EVERYTHING to the point i want to fall asleep at 7pm i am so tired from chasing them all day.
not sure if you saw my post the other day but Cooper moved the baby gate we had rigged in front of the stairs and was almost at the top and Colton was sitting at the bottom clapping his hands for Cooper. I ABOUT HAD A HEART ATTACK!
So we have fat lips, brusies and lots of bumps.
