Zantac or Pepsid? Heatburn help

I've been having terrible heatburn and acid indigestion, it kept me up alot over the weekend. My doc said Pepsid or Zantac were safe. Anyone take either of these and prefer one over the other? Not sure if they're even that different.

Also any other remedies would be awesome!

  • My dr had me on prilosec when I was pg with dd. I started taking it again, it keeps my acid down quite a bit.  If I have anything with a red sauce though, I need two pills.  :)  Good luck - I hope you find what works for you.

  • My doctor preferred Zantac over Pepsid. And I only took it when I really needed it (usually at night before going to bed).

last pg, I didn't get heartburn until 2nd trimester, but this time around, I started with it at like 6 weeks.  Good luck, and I'd also be interested in hearing other remedies people may have!

  • I take Zantac almost every day, and it does help some but I still have bad heartburn at night.
  • My ob put me on zantac 75 last week, it's helped--mostly.
  • The ONLY time I have called my doctor during this pg was when I was experiencing intense pain from acid indigestion.  She recommended Pepcid and Maalox, together.  I felt better very quickly.  The combo saved me.
