Anyone with DH low morph get referred to IVF right away?

I'm just rying to guess what my RE will have me do next.  With two blighted ovums and DH with low morph I'm wondering if they will suspect poor egg quality and the morph being the problem and recommend IVF.  I'll meet with them again soon...TIA.

Re: Anyone with DH low morph get referred to IVF right away?

  • We were!  We finally went to an RE after 2 unsuccessfull IUI's with my gynocologist.  Both IUI's were done with just above 2 million sperm post wash, so even though they told us our SA was "normal" we knew something was off.  So we paid the money and drove the distance to visit an RE who did a more conclusive SA and found we had slightly low count, slightly low motility and low (2-5%) morphology.  The RE imediatly suggested IVF, especially since we'd already had 2 failed IUI's.  We are both young, healthy and in good shape, so the Dr. said it could happen naturally, but with those SA numbers and the fact that we've been TTC for over two years puts the odds againsed us!

It depends on how poor the morph is.  Do you know the #?

If you got pregnant twice on your own and the morph isn't too bad, it might be worth doing some RPL testing and then start with a medicated IUI.

  • I believe his morph was 5

  • We were told we could try IUIs first. ?MH's count is 550-665 million, motility is 30-49% and morphology is 3-5%. ?(He has had two SAs.) ?

After 2 rounds of IVF & 2 rounds of FET, we were blessed with identical twin girls!

  • I hope you don't mind me posting.

We were told to do IVF/ICSI due to my DH having 0% morph. Due to financial reasons we decided to try IUI's first.

I got pg on my 5'th round of b2b IUI's (first injectibel cycle).  My DH aslo has a son with his ex and they weren't even trying.  Low or no morph doesn't always have to mean a jump straight to IVF.

    Good luck  :-)

  • We were told ivf w/icsi is the only way.  We have low count and low morph after 2 SA's.  We are making some lifestyle/eating/vitamin changes then will go for a 3rd SA.

If we had ins coverage for IVF we may not be waiting

  • We have 1-3% morph on the strict Kruger scale and total counts in the 82-174 million range (the higher the count, the lower our morph got). ?We were told IUI would be ~5% chance of success while IVF w/ ICSI would be 60-65%. ?I got pregnant the first cycle, however miscarried at 6 weeks. ?We're awaiting genetic testing from my D&C to see if we have a larger issue then just morph.

  • We had our first RE appt last week, after our Dr read through our medical records he said that was our best option.  For us it is a combo of low morph, endo, one tube/ovary.
  • My OB and the RE suggested ICSI right away. It could also be because I am 37. DH had low everything.. morph 1-2%. RE then decided to try the hamster egg test to see if he could even attempt an IUI but he cancelled the test whe everything was still so low post-wash.
  • After an early m/c and 2 s/a's which both has poor results in count and morphology, with borderline motility, and me being 37 - two different RE's both advised that our best chances were with IVF/ICSI.  Due to our job keeping us out of the country for months at a time, we have continued to try on our while aboard.  But if this current cycle is another failure, we have our 1st IVF appointment set for April 10th, as we will be back at home by then.
