Glass Bottles vs Plastic Bottles

I am just wondering if anyone else has started to think about this.  I am trying to determine if glass baby bottles will be better than plastic - or vice versa.

I know its a little early to think about this but my mind is racing about things...what do you think...

Re: Glass Bottles vs Plastic Bottles

  • I'm using BPA free plastic.
  • Loading the player...
  • I hate plastic stuff. If we have to use any bottles, they'll be glass.

    This!
  • Thanks!  I am planning on nursing but will have to come up with a bottle option after I return to work.

This.  We bought Born Free because they were pretty much the only BPA ones available when DS was born (it was the height of the BPA thing and Babies R Us racks were empty while they made the switch).

We bought a few glass bottles and I found them to be heavy to lug around and kind of clumsy.  Although I will say they insulate better than plastic.

  • We haven't decided for sure yet, but are leaning towards glass

  • I'm getting the glass ones with the silcone sleeves you can put around them.  I like glass better.  I use all glass for our adult drinking, too.  I've had enough plastic.
  • Glass is basically guaranteed not to leach anything, and I used it with my first baby.  I switched over to Born Free plastic when she started holding her own bottle/transitioned to a sippy.
  • I'm not sure yet - but I was wondering if daycares allow glass bottles. Anyone have experience with this?

  • I dropped so many bottles with my ds there is NO WAY I would ever use glass bottles. I use bpa free Dr. Brown bottles.
  • I think for a cold drink you can use BPA free bottles, but for heating up I am going to use only glass!
  • I used the Dr. Brown bottles with DS. Probably will use them again for this baby.

This.  My wife and I are both absolute clutzs.  I did most of the bottle feeding my sister when she was born, and I was very happy we were using plastic at the time.  So bpa plastic it is.
