How many swaddle blankets do you need?

I just had my shower yesterday and was given a total of 7 swaddle blankets.  Is this enough, not enough, or more than enough?  TIA!

That will be plenty.  We had five and that worked great for us.

  • IMO you can't have enough. They can be used for SO many things from swaddling to changing pad, sun cover, burp cloth, prop to position baby. I have 30-40 in all different weights from cotton to wool to flannel.
  • That sounds good.  Are they different types of swaddle blankets?  I liked having a variety.  We had 2 of the swaddleme ones (the one with the velco wing things) and I preferred using those and we had a couple of just traditional swaddle blankets that you had to swaddle yourself, my husband preferred those.
  • I agree with JAR.  We use ours for almost everything.  I'm actually going to the fabric store to get a lightweight cotton to make summer blankets.  Just make sure they are large enough to grow with your baby.

  • i'd try to return a few if you can. ?we used two swaddle blankets and then also some receiving blankets to swaddle. ?DS didn't really like being swaddled and always slept fine without being swaddled so we didn't use them that often.
  • Ah you are talking about things like miracle blankets and Kidop. I was talking about the square blankets.

I have 3 miracle blankets in cotton, 3 swaddle mes and use them all.

  • I was given 3 swaddle me blankets, a miracle blanket (some type of swaddle blanket) then 2 other higher end swaddle blankets.  I also got receiving blankets but since I got 7 blankets labeled as swaddle I wasn't sure if I would use them all.  Thanks for your advice.
