TTC after 35

when would you test?

Hi everyone! I was on here a while back but haven't been on in a while--I just needed to stop obsessing a little so I took a break. :)

Anyhow, we're on a "rest cycle" this month from Clomid--I had a cyst on my left ovary at my day 3 u/s--but we used OPKs. Yesterday it was 2 weeks since I got a positive OPK. I know that if you don't get your pd in 2 weeks you test, but my periods tend to be pretty irregular (45 days for the past 2 cycles w/o medication). Today would be day 33.

Would you test or just wait it out? (I'm not feeling any different at all, and in Sept when I had a chemical pg I definitely knew something was up with my body--majorly sore boobs!)

  • Do you know how long your LP usually is?  If you do, then I would wait until the day after your normal LP.  If not, then I would say go ahead and test.  Good luck!

sorry about the cyst though. that's hard. i'm on a forced break from clomid since my RE doesnt want me to do another round until i see him again and my appt was supposed to be last week. however he had to do emergency surgery and his next appt wasnt until april 2nd. arrghh.

  • Thanks ladies. I tested this morning and it was negative. Oh well. Hopefully this cyst is gone and we can do the next Clomid cycle next month.

I'll admit I'm frustrated. My dx is PCOS--I'm not ovulating reguarly, and we did 2 rounds of Clomid already (50 and 100mg) but after the last round we switched REs (not b/c of the Clomid, I just wasn't happy with the practice). Now we have a great RE but we've had to take rest cycles for 2 months because of this cyst and some hormone thing last month. We've been trying for over a year and it's really hard to not get depressed, as I'm sure many of you know?I'm trying not to dwell on the waiting and the failures, but it's difficult to not get down on my body and myself and this whole process. Okay, whine over. ;)?
