One perk of bed rest...

(If you can really call it a "perk....")

My ankles are back! ?Last week by the end of a long work day, they were starting to look pretty poofy. ?But now they're looking normal and bony once again! ?;-) ?

Now if only I could reach my toes to give them a mini pedi... ?Hrm. ??

My ankles are back!  Last week by the end of a long work day, they were starting to look pretty poofy.  But now they're looking normal and bony once again!  ;-)

Now if only I could reach my toes to give them a mini pedi...  Hrm.

I am going to ask my doctor this week about getting a pedicure. My feet are hideous! I haven't had a pedicure since last summer and I am in desperate need of one now that the weather is getting nice.

I am only on modified bed rest and I am allowed to leave the house for "no more than a couple of hours" to run errands, but only if someone is with me to lift and carry DS. Maybe I will use DH's day off this week to run out and have some "me" time. I'd better do it before my doctor notices any changes with my cervix and puts me on strict bed rest.

  • I'm definitely planning for a pro mani and pedi once I get to 35-36 weeks, so long as I'm still on modified bed rest. ?I think I might have to get my DH to trim them in the meantime, though. ?They're looking pretty raunchy! ?
  • my aunt actually sent a manicurist/pedicurist to the hospital while i there. it made my day!

If my appointments with the Peri and OB go well tomorrow I am going to ask if I can get a mani/pedi later this week.  My nails are getting grossly long and I am afraid the are going to break really low down. If they say no then I will trim them myself but I have never been very good at that. Another think I have considered it having someone come out to my house that does that kind of things. My friend has looked into it for me.  You may want to consider that too.  I know it won't be the same as the Spa chairs but it's better than nothing!

     Congrats on your ankles!!!!!

  • Yay for small victories! I noticed that I've had zero swelling yet and I'm almost 26 weeks. (Occasionally a bit on my hands but I think it's more being inside with the heat on all the time than pregnancy).

Can DH paint your toenails? Mine did for me, it was so sweet and cute!

  • I agree!  I went back to work one day before delivering and my ankles got swollen again...but luckily I had nice ankles for most of third trimester.  Another perk....I think from going to a very slow metabolism (by just sitting on the couch) to even doing light walking and holding of the baby after she was born made my metabolism kick into gear and I lost most of the baby weight already and i'm not even 2 weeks postpartum yet.

  • Ha, I was thinking the same thing! My ankles were back to normal after just a few days of bedrest! I had just went and bought 3 pairs of shoes from Payless to accommodate my cankles and swollen feet, and now I don't need them so I can return them and save $70! :)
  • woohoo- ankles! I'm proud to say I haven't had any swelling yet..although I may have just jinxed myself as I look down and my fingers look pretty puffy.
