Just found out my ATM card has been cloned - argh!

This sucks! And the bank cannot tell me where or when this happened, so I cant even prevent it from happening again - even if I try and hide my PIN, they can actually record it as I punch it in... So now my debit card has been cancelled and I have to get a new one...

At least they didnt clone my credit card - That would have been even worse. Still, it makes me so mad to know that there are people out there just waiting for an opportunity to take my hard-earned money.  Angry

    Wow!  I'm so sorry this has happened.  I had a credit card stolen once, luckily i cancelled it before to much money could have been spent. 

    Someone gave me a piece of advice after the incident that might be helpful to you.  Ask you bank to give you a debit that has a mastercard/visa label on it.  Have the store process it as credit instead of debit.  The money still comes out of your account, but you don't have to type in your pin.  Plus, this also requires the sales person to check your ID.  (even if they don't ask, I always show it)  I know its a little inconvienent, but go into your bank to make a cash withdrawl.  That way there is no chance of anyone copying your PIN.

    Thx Madame Fancy Pants - I'm not sure such fancy technology is available in my neck of the woods yet, but I'll ask. The good thing is that my bank cancelled my card within half an hour of the fraud happening AND they are refunding me the money that was taken.

    ugh, that sucks! my hubby and i have had our accounts compromised three times in seven months, so i feel your pain. first it was his checking account, then our credit card account and then my checking account. boooo.
