Pregnant after a Loss

Safe allergy med?

I know Benadryl is okay, but is there any other non-drowsy allergy med?  We have only recently moved to TN, and whoa, I think spring is here in full force with things my nose has never encountered.  I feel like my head is going to explode.

TIA.

Re: Safe allergy med?

  • I remember being told that sudafed is ok I think, but not the PE, just regular. Also, I am pretty sure Claritin or Zyrtec are fine too. Although, how is your bp? lots of allergy meds with decongestants raise bp.

  • claritin is on my list.

I have bad allergies at times, but I also found I had pregnancy rhinitis (congestion) so claritin really didn't help with the congestion as much.

  • I took benadryl all last week.  My doctor told me tylenol cold and sinus is fine too.

Zyrtec is fine, you can also get a prescription for Singulair it is Category B and help with congestion w/out sudafed.

  • Wow - any allergy med being ok is news to me, but it gives me some hope that some of you are taking them while preg.!  My RE and OB said that I shouldn't take anything for my allergies.  I'm going to ask my peri when I see him for the first time on Tues.  Or did you have to wait until the 2nd trimester to take stuff like claritin and zyrtec?  It's been torture this last year and a half of being off the allergy meds while TTC and preg.
